  1. The ashtray says

    You were up all night

I once gave a friend a couple Wilco albums to listen to and the next day that was the first thing he said to me. He loved it. "How does someone come up with that?"

i really feel like that one is kinda obvious. the ashtray is full of cigarettes so the person was up all night worrying/smoking. clever as hell though. i always liked it myself.

  2. sometimes lyrics aren't mean to convey the actual meanings of the words, but more the feelings and emotions in your subconscious that immediately resonate. it's called impressionism.

  3. i can't see anyone not liking it either. it was one of my favs back when i was listening to the live debuts. the only complaint is that i think the live versions had more bite to them. combine this with that partial Tweedy interview that was posted yesterday where he said the live versions of the song were going to kick ass and you gotta wonder what happened...

  4. just wondering: is the only circulating version the transcode/stream rip or has someone seen an actual rip of the review copy?

i know there was some debate...some were saying that the 256 and 320 kbps versions were still the stream...think they may have been right as i turned up the volume and heard a decent amount of hiss.

any HELP would be greatly appreciated.

  5. plus, i mean that "lack of disgust" is obviously "like we've discussed." that's a gross error. over the past couple weeks, i read a quote that said that all the reviewers that kept calling Wilco alt-country would be closest to the mark with this record. while that's true, SBS is definitely not even close to that kind of sound...

  6. i know you! you are from the Dylanpool. i think that there is a CD rip out there though. i have a 320 kbps of "Impossible Germany" that was uploaded by someone...and I think it was uploaded before the first stream, though i could be wrong...

  7. to get a better picture, one might do well to read the poem with the title "Impossible Germany" in Tweedy's Adult Head. i think that is the title. i know a lot of the lines from A Ghost Is Born are in those poems...

  8. i haven't sifted through all of this yet, but has anyone mentioned the cool way Jeff says "honestly" in "Leave Me (Like You Found Me." both times you hear this trippy pedal steel (?) behind him. it's in the rest of the song too.

sorry, i'm used to spending most of my Internet time on a Bob Dylan board, so i get all specific like that sometimes.

also, did anyone notice the 3 or so song title changes last night?
