  1. So far, nobody has pointed out an example of Ringo doing a poor job of playing the drums.

I don't think anyone was trying to say that Ringo was a poor drummer. Personally, I'm tired of hearing the same, bad arguments as to why he should be considered great. In my mind, Ringo was a drummer. His playing was exactly what any drummer's should be as such. Keep time. Play to the song. Vary the playing enough to keep things interesting. He did all of these things, but not much more. The fact that he was a part of the most popular rock group we've seen yet, is almost pure luck and does not speak to his skill level. Another argument that I've heard a lot of is that "he was perfect for the Beatles" or "no one else could have filled that position like he did." Maybe so, but I think that is something that could be said of a lot of drummers and again, does not speak to his skill level.

  2. Okay. Sorry for being annoying, but i have searched the wwhole site for these acoustic tweedy songs and i can;t find them anywhere. Or they are in FLAC and my comp freaks out with flac files. Could someone be so kind to upload some of these songs in mp3 or m4a format so i can put them on my itunes?

off the top of my head i would like:

    Wishful Thinking

    Less than you think

    hummingbird

    a magazine called sunset

at least that's what you said

    Ashes of American flags.

The above link is a good collection of Tweedy solo stuff. It doesn't have Wishful Thinking or Ashes of American Flags, but I'm sure if you hunt around here(http://www.owlandbear.com/tag/jeff-tweedy/) you could find those as well. Good luck!

edit: found all the songs you were looking for(and more) at that site. With the exception of Wishful Thinking.

  3. Great set last night opening for Wilco Indy. They had the addition of a bass player, and some of the new arrangements were outstanding. I thought Blood Bank was great, and it makes me look forward to what else will come from Bon Iver.

Their show the night before in Columbus was outstanding. The encore was that Sarah Siskind song mentioned earlier and that was really cool. They closed the main set with Wolves and he asked us to sing along to the second have "what might have been lost" and to grow in volume as they did on the stage. Everyone in the room ended up almost screaming and it really was a powerful moment. Justin was funny and relaxed. He thanked us for being so responsive and nice and said that they would return, which is always nice a nice thought. I really like how the four of them play different instruments throughout the show. They played 2 new songs, Babies and Blood Bank.

  4. Just saw 'em in Columbus and all I can say is Wow, Z's sure come a loooooong way. From the terrified novice at SXSW to (almost) a seasoned performer who actually appears to be enjoying herself (jumping around, clapping). Engaging, even. And the way she belted on "I Put A Spell On You"!

Of course, she is coming off her first high-profile bomb with The Happening. Perhaps that spurred her to work on her stage persona. Or perhaps I'm being a cynical a-hole.

I was there last night too. Her voice was so incredibly huge and beautiful and that cover was incredible. Gave me chills.
