  1. We've got a clock that was made in 1892, some 100+ YO chairs and the boots that my mother wore for my parents wedding are nearing 130 years. None of those things belong to me, and I'm not really sure what the oldest thing that I own is....I have some of my grandfather's cuff links and tie clips that would probably take the cake.

  2. Okay, so made the trek down to Nelsonville yesterday to be in line early, as to be sure to get into the show. Got down there 3 hours early and had no problem getting in. The place was packed(450 capacity) and it was really an awesome show. Found out while in line that they were planning on doing a second show at 9:30, for those that couldn't get into the first one. I ended up going to both shows. The second one has for 200 people or less. Maybe it was because I was on the floor for the second show, but it seemed better, higher energy, more crowd response, etc.

    1st show:

    Intervention

    Keep the Car Running

    Heroes(Bowie)

    -student speaker break-

    A Change is Gonna Come(Cooke)>

    Rebellion

    (Neighborhood #3)Power Out

    Wake Up

    Gimme Some Truth(Lennon)

    2nd show:

    Heroes

    (Antichrist Television Blues)

*Either Wake Up, Power Out or Rebellion, I just can't remember which order they were.

This version of the band included Win, Will, Regine, Sarah, Jeremy and Colin. Colin opened both sets with 2 sax solos. They were incredible and he was producing sounds that I didn't know were possible with that instrument.

Win kept repeating that they were really excited to be there. They looked like they were having a blast. While the rally was for Obama, and AF was supporting him, I think Win's stronger message was one of just doing your part and voting and that a change is definitely needed if this country is going to survive. Overall a great night and a pretty good venue. The Avett Brothers are playing there in May and I'll probably go back.

  3. My son had seen pictures of me with members of the band and wanted to get his picture taken as well. So we waited around after the show (his idea, honest). Thanks to Rob & Evie who let us warm up in there car. He got his picture taken with Jeff & Glenn. They could not have been kinder - Jeff even picked him up for the photo! When I asked my son what his favorite part of the night was he simply answered "Glenn".

We saw you back there. I thought your little boy was so cute. And of course his favorite thing was Glenn! Drummers are awesome!

  4. I'd really like to see a picture of them all framed together, if someone does that. Mostly because that's going to be a gigantic piece of matte! If you're making calls to local frame stores, ask about a student discount. Some places offer those to art students. Put on your best beret, act like you're too depressed to really care and take your posters in!

Johnny and cryptique offered up the most inexpensive ways to go about this. If you decided to try and cut your own matte, matte cutters can be very inexpensive and definitely beat out an exacto and a straight-edge.

  5. He also said that they probably end up playing Lollapalooza.

This will probably depend on when it is. Someone in the band is going to be a father this summer.

Then there was the poor guy in the front row that he singled out for sitting most of the show - hey, Jeff, the guy probably paid $150 for that seat.

Those seats were no more expensive than any other.

  6. I'm glad some folks came out tonight, it was a lot of fun. :cheers

Indeed! I think I may have figured out the mystery beer! I got back to my friend's place and cracked open a RJ King Wingwalker Lager. It's a Pilsner and has a similar taste. The difference may be because mine here is from a bottle......It's brewed in Wisconsin and everything!

  7. If I could afford to take a month or two off from work I would do teh VC American Tour. Start from the Lake of Fire in NY, run down the Coast, including Joisey, through Byrd Country, on down to F-L-A (including the part that voted blue), swing across the South through lawyer territory and where the Crow flies, a little stop in the Dead-friendly Mile High City, into Calee-fornee for a stop in Baconville U.S.A. and the Administrative offices in Riverside, then onto the Holy City (SF) and finishing up in the great Northwest to our destination of Seattle (huh? what?) before heading towards Sweet Home Chicago.

Sorry, my friends up north - I'd have the inevitable problem at the border. :stunned

This doesn't include a stop in Columbus and it makes me sad. :ohwell

Only Ms Yvon, but that was a rocking good time.

Maybe some more on Wednesday if people are still going to the residency shows?

    Hells yeah! See you there!

  8. Tonight was just great. I have been waiting to hear "Monday" and it was just awesome! As I was sort of walking out, a roadie threw a setlist out and the tape on it literally stuck to my shirt. Through the magic of some wonderful VC friends, I got an after-party pass and was able to get Glenn, Nels, Pat and John to sign it. Minutes later, I was down the street at Fat Cat and Mikael was there! Even though he was on his way out, he was nice enough to sign it as well. 5 out of 6 ain't bad, right? The setlist really confirms that they had fully intended on closing with Lonely 1. I'm so happy they came back with ELT and Hoodoo Voodoo. Simply outstanding! Food afterwards with some great people, despite the crappy weather. Oh well, at least it's not snowing(yet). Can't wait to see what the other 3 shows hold!

  9. saw no professional cameras.

    did see tapers.

and wow, that was crazy good.

met some nice VC folks, too.

it was great to meet you! Hopefully see you tomorrow night.

At the break I was thinking "this is the best Wilco show I've seen and it's only HALF OVER!!!" A lot of really great tunes, saw a lot of great people, too. A couple of false starts, too, which is an element that I really enjoy. Makes them seem, I don't know, more human, I guess. Johnny's posters and t-shirt look great!

Evilhorn-can you post some of those pictures you took? I know some of them are great! Can't wait for the rest of the week! Hoping they'll bring back the horn section other nights(especially for whenever they play "Monday").
