  1. This was an amazing show. Not really being familiar with Ryan's music at all, I was blown away. 1st set was all rockers and 2nd set was the whole band sitting down to play acoustic stuff. It was great. Leo and Wendy can tell you more about it if the choose(like song titles and such), but it was great. Thanks again Wendy for the tickets. More thoughts when I am a little more awake/coherent.

  2. Hummingcock

    Cock in my Back

    Cockologians

    Ashes of American Cocks

    Cock is Chrome

    Muzzle of Cock

    Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway(cock)

    In a future Cock

Almost the entire new album lends itself so well to this exercise:

    Either Cock

    You are my Cock

    Impossible Cock

    Cock Blue Cock

    Side with the Cock

    Shake it Cock

    Please be patient with Cock

    What Cock

    Cock and Cock and Cock

I'll bet that's how Jeff and co. came up with all the song names.

  3. I was in a cover band the past three years. Our final gig last year probably had 250+ in attendance and we were the only group on the bill.

I'll post our setlist if I can find it later.

Also last year, I subbed in a cover band for one night only. That night, the regular guitarist played bass and we were temporarily known as the Green monkey's Toothpaste Revenge. It was glorious. The real band name is The Mac. (http://www.themacmusic.com/index.html)

  4. Didn't have time to make it through the entire thread this morning(so I don't know if someone has already said this), but the fact that it exists supports what I think is wrong with this country. There are so many problems here at home. Healthcare, Welfare, environmental issues, human rights issues, I just don't understand why we think we can make the rest of the world better by invading this or that country. Full out war, police action, whatever, is unacceptable until we have a decent example for others to follow. For me, I guess it all comes back to Gandhi: "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

edit: that and the fact that mediocrity is acceptable for/amongst the majority of today's youth(myself included).

  5. As for potential nastiness resulting from this, I'm sort of hoping for the "safety in numbers" effect. There were SO many Oink users, and I was a bit player among that throng. If they go after people based on level of use, they'd take quite a long time to get around to me, if they ever did.

Probably fooling myself, but that's the direction my thoughts are going...

this is actually, okay thinking on your part. Then can send all the e-mails they want, but if they want to find ownership on modems and stuff, they have to track IPs. Luckily, most big ISPs don't readily release information about their paying customers. However, people on public networks might want to beware. OSU had something like this happen a while back and the individual was reprimanded by NBC or some nonsense(for downloading The Office).

  6. Jeff has some songs that would say he isn't (Theologians dont know nothing about my soul, and Ruling Class has Jesus smokin crack)

I've always thought the opposite of those two songs(even if one is about the guy in rehab). Theologians has imagery in it from so many different Faiths. And Ruling Class is the sort of theory that the messiah is coming, but not in some glorious manner like most people think...so be on the look out. I don't know. Just how I always heard those songs. I think at the very least Jeff is a spiritual person. But, Glenn Kotche HAS sold is soul to the devil; this is fact.

  7. Kudos to the guy directly behind me who not only knew every word to "Too Far Apart", but actually sang along in tune. (something I am incapable of)

Where were you sitting? This may have been me...I think I sang along through almost the entire show. Some songs a lot louder than others.

where would a torrent be posted if a tape came out? Im relatively new to the world of wilco.
id also like to know where a recording of the show would be posted. thanks in advance for the help

    bt.etree.org(no-registration needed)

    dimeadozen.org

try those first, in about a week, maybe longer.

  8. Going from one note to another is commonly referred to as a "step," either a "whole step" or a "half step." For example, from A to B is a whole step, or from A to A# is a half step. From A# to C is a whole step, etc.

A "mode" is a way of arranging these "steps" so that they sound pleasant to the ear. The major scale is WWHWWWH (W = whole step H= half step)

If you are only moving that series of Whole and half steps around the guitar, then you are maintaining the major scale in different keys and/or positions. The modes all have different Whole/Half step patterns.

  9. Just incredible. I'd almost say that was better than the Chicago show, but other 10,999 people that were at that Millennium Park show would probably disagree. Said hi to Jeff before the show. I think he was just getting back from a jog around campus/downtown. I took a friend and my parents and all three loved it. I didn't get the whole sitting down thing. Quite a few people sat through the whole show....oh well. All in all great night. And it was really good to see Wendy again!!!

edit: I think I saw taper mics on either side of the stage in front and I just want to say that I really like how they're hitting harder on the older stuff. Sounds great.
