  1. Comments? Criticisms? I can take it. The rest of the band is pretty sensitive about it, but they'll never see this thread. I'm not a huge fan of how lucid the mix is. I'm not a huge fan of the vocals either. My singer sang them differently in recording than he ever did in practices and I didn't know how to tell him not to. The drums are also a little clunky. Our drummer looks for cues a lot from the other guitarist and was somewhat lost doing tracks solo (simply the way it had to be done). I'm playing rhythm on all songs except for Monkey, on which I play lead. Seriously, any feedback is appreciated. Much thanks.

I gave this stuff a listen. Not really my cup of tea, but not a bad start for you and your friends. I'd say you already have a pretty good idea of the things that need fixing. Now, how to fix them without pissing off everyone else....the only thing I could personally speak to is that drums are almost always recorded first and separate from the rest of the band. The drummer has to know his/her parts forward/backwards before even showing up at the studio. Practicing and recording with a metronome will help eliminate that "clunky" feeling. Keep on rocking :rock

  2. I'm not sure Jay Ferrar is in UT or SV. I do like Jay Farrar a lot, however.

    J. Ferrar makes clothing and shoes that you can buy at dept. stores.

While I realize their influence on rock and roll, and well, pop culture as we know it, I just plain don't like the Beatles. And I'm really tired of Ringo making top 25/top 50 great dummer lists.

If Jack White would have been making music like the new Raconteurs album all along, I would be waaaaaaaaaay into him.

I really do hate Bon Jovi-for reasons I can't explain. I don't think it really has much to do with the music, either.

  3. Thanks so much guys. After a near 13-hour shift unloading semis of furniture, this is really nice to come home to. The rest of the evening will be spent eating pizza and relaxing. And by relaxing, I mean drinking beers. Tomorrow's the Okkervil/New Pornographers show and saturday is dinner with family and friends. Thanks again, it means a lot.

P.S. Saturday has the word "turd" in it. Right in the MIDDLE!!!

  4. A letter of sorts:

Okay, so since last thursday, I have been home for a total of 3 hours. Needless to say, haven't had much time to read/post in this thread. Now that I'm caught up, I want to say this:

I had a great time. It was probably the most perfect weekend I've ever had. The weather, the parties, the people, the actual show, seeing Glenn's concert, the food, just everything. I was really glad to meet everyone I hadn't before, and it's always great to see old friends. Coming away from the experience, I feel lucky to be a part of a community that is so loving and generous. I also think that we are lucky to have Jeff and his wife, not only as fans of Wilco, but as people that live in this world. They have been so gracious to us and to the various causes/benefits that they support. Just wow.

I want to sincerely thank all of you who were involved this past weekend. It was an experience I'll never forget and something truly inspiring(Maybe my stupid grin in a bunch of those photos is proof, but I'd thought I'd share in words, too).

Much love to all of you,

    Bryan

    P.S. Hummingbird-holy crap. Thanks Jeff.

  5. I think I saw Bryan and Jamie (thanks to the most recent LRS pre-party and show photos) at the show, but I wasn't sure at the time, so I didn't say hi. Jet lag was threatening to set in, or perhaps I would have attempted to be more social. Next

You did indeed! Melissa was there too. I think I can safely say that all three of us thoroughly enjoyed the show.

Did you also see Andrew Bird and John S. in the audience? They were there.
