  1. Of course, what you have there is Bob Dylan and his beard, a friend of his with a Bob Dylan Beard, and the fellow who wrote the song Bob Dylan's Beard, who sometimes grows a Bob Dylan beard himself, and a huge fan of the fellow who wrote the song Bob Dylan's Beard, who sometimes grows a Bob Dylan beard himself, who can also grow a bob dylan beard himself, all in one place. Cosmic, man.

    Edited that a little bit!

  2. I will quote this old redneck guy that I know "Those things are like flying a damn helicopter!". The PS is a very hard insturment. the better you know theory, the easier it will be to play. the better you are on lap steel the easier it will be to play. I would suggest that you become very good on lap, and then graduate to PS. This is what my friend that plays steel with me sometimes did. He got to where I could be playing a song, and he could sit down on lap and sound great without me telling him the chords or anything. Then he got a nice PS, and he sounded horrible for about a month. Sorta okay for about a month after that, and then he sounded great on PS. So basically, you can do it, it all depends on how bad you want it. Good Luck!!

  3. they still had some left when I bought mine before leaving, while the band was playing 'Hoodoo Voodoo.' hopefully any extras will pop-up in the online store soon.

I was really shocked to see that they were selling vinyl myself. I picked-up Bon Iver's LP in Cary.

You left while they were still playing!!!??

  4. where did Pat go?

well when I was talking to Pat outside the Florida Theater last week (see the other thread, it was sooo freakin' cool to meet the band!!!!) he said that he thought the band was just invited to the game, like someone had gotten them tickets. He didnt realize that they were invited to the game, i.e. Tweedy throwing the opening pitch and all.

  5. I had actually never heard political science before Wilco played it. I loved the song, and checked out randy newman, and now I love randy newman. I think that is what is cool about them playing great covers; it turns people on to cool music they might not have heard otherwise.

  6. that sucks about the curfew, I wouldve loved to have heard the new ones and Passenger Side, but who am I to complain after that show?!!!!!!! The stand vs sit thing was tough. The seats are comfortable. It was a mellow show at the beginning, which at least for the people around me seemed to put everyone in a mellow chill out and be respectful kind of mode. I like how it ended up being about a half sit, half stand show. I hope they keep the horn section. They made Walken sound HUGE!!! Those guitar riffs were like a t rex chomping through the forest or something! On top of all of this awesomeness, I got to meet and talk to everyone in the band after the show (Yes, I am bragging!!!!). BEST NIGHT EVER!!

  7. the title basically sums it up. I got to meet and talk to everyone in the band. They all signed my vinyl copy of SBS!!!!!! It is now my most prized possesion. Wilco has been around my life constantly for the last few years since I discovered them in 04, and this is just so cool! It was really great to say thanks and to get to meet them. Some girls took my picture with Jeff, so hopefully they will email it to me! I have already bragged to all of my friends, so I just thought it was time to brag to you guys too! Like my good friend Kelly said "You know Rob, in 20 years, this will be like meeting the Beatles!"

  8. Leonard Cohen is absolutely amazing, but I cannot stand the sound of his music after the mid 70s. His lyrics and melodies are still killer, but to me it just sounds like a god awful 80s synth pop crap. I wish he would do a record with Rick Rubin so that Rubin would just make him play his nylon string acoustic and sing, instead of throwing all of that stuff on there that he does.

  9. As an artist, you will always feel that your best stuff is your newest because that is what you are going through at that time. The older stuff loses its luster to the originator, whereas for us maybe weve just gotten the older stuff recently, or we are at the same stage in our life as the artist was when he or she wrote that stuff. It is still relevant to the fan, whereas the artist has moved on. Looking back on their career, I have felt that the newest wilco record has always been the best, until they released the next one. Looking at them in order, sbs has a place. They were proving that they can still just play some regular songs about stuff. I like sbs alot, but they will move on, like they have for every record. I got what that record was all about. As long as tweedy reflects what is in his heart, we will have great wilco records. If he pulls an 80's neil young thing, then we wont, but I dont see him doing that. It is almost impossible to make (great) music by forcing it to fit within some parameter.

  10. Here is how it works.

The faded series has a satin nitrocellulose finish, with 490R and 490T pickups. They are versatile good pickups. The faded series does not have binding on the neck, they have dot inlays (moons were only 2001-2003), rosewood fingerboards, mahogany neck and bodies, nashville abr bridge and stop tailpiece, regular gibson kluson style tuners, and a gibson decal rather than a pearl inlay. They come with a gig bag.

The classic series has a gloss nitro finish, with single coil p-90 pickups. P90s are kind of in between humbuckers and fender style single coils. They have a great rock and roll, ballsy sound. The neck and body is made from mahogany, and they have a rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays and binding. Gibson is inlayed in pearl, and they have kluson style tuners with button style keys rather than the usual tulip type. The bridge and tailpeice are the same nashville abr and stop tailpeice. I believe these have a hard case but I could be wrong.

The standard has a gloss nitro finish, and 490R and 490T pickups. The neck and body is made of mahogany, and the fingerboard is rosewood. The neck has binding and has trapezoid cellulose style inlays. Gibson is inlayed in pearl, and there is also a pearl wheat-stack inlayed on the headstock. The tuners are regular kluson style, and the guitar comes with a hardshell case.

Basically the faded is a standard without any inlays, binding, or a gloss finish. The classic is missing some of the inlays that the standard has, but has p90 pickups. There is no difference in any of the components on any of these guitars. They are all made in the same factory, and have the same quality components. All gibsons have setup issues, and many of them need to have the nut recut for the guitar to play in tune. 90% of all tuning problems are from an improperly cut nut that is pinching the strings or bad stringing techniques. It does seem that the cheaper the gibson, the less attention to detail from the factory, but there are exceptions to this from both sides of the scale. Any one of these would be a nice guitar, but it just depends on what you are going for. I have an sg standard that is great.

  11. So in the email they just sent us, it said they would be recording. Is this for a new wilco record, or are they doing side projects and stuff? They haven't been playing any new tunes live lately have they?

  12. guess ive got a drive coming up!!! finally!!!! I was starting to thinkthat the yahoos we live with had scared my favorite band away. I hope the audience doesnt get into the whole stand/sit fight again. I was afraid that had made them not want to play here anymore. Definately made my day! (Edit: That they are playing here, not the fighting!) Also, for the south florida people, it is the closest you are going to get for awhile from what it looks like. Personally, I think orlando is the best place for bands in FLA to play, but then the panhandle people arent happy. I think they are playing jacksonville so people from Atlanta can drive to that one, as well as alot of floridans. 3.5 hours is okay for me to drive after the show. 5 or more? probably not.
