Wouldn't that kind of favor big cities over rural areas?
of course it would, in the short term. but eventually, lower prices (and lower dependency on oil, and less control and wealth for the saudis) would benefit everyone.
-
if taxes were raised on gas, and the revenue put towards public transportation, in the long run there would be a decrease in demand and eventually prices. of course, this will never happen, because it would be wildly unpopular. and so the cycle continues, brought to you by our good friends at OPEC.

I do not own a car, but I like to think that my $81/month metrocard is a bargain.

well now the connection isn't working for me. dammit.

yes, but when i click on wgn through mlb.com it won't come up. should i go somewhere else to get a link?
for mlbtv? i usually just go to the mlb.com homepage and click on the "watch" icon in the scoreboard.
-
haha, ryan braun sucks at defense.
LOEB - mlbtv is working pretty well for me today. do you have premium? or are you using gameday?

she looks better than priscilla presley. at least her face shows some kind of emotion!
-
congrats on getting in, by the way!
when i went off to college, my aunt made me this really amazing care package, filled with a bunch of stuff that i never would have thought to bring. of course, now i can't remember anything that was in there, except for a bottle of goo gone.

i like how the announcers are doing everything they can to make these games seem exciting. last night they were saying, "don't count out villanova," when they were down by like 20 points.
-
nice work, kate! you're going to be so ready come race day!
by the way, did your friend decide to do it?
-
i agree, he is something.
lots of blowouts tonight, kinda weird.
-
damn, they just didn't have it tonight. i'd rather the badgers lose to davidson than just about anyone else, though; that team has miles of heart. and now i can cheer them on against kansas.
-
ugh, badgers look terrible.
-
Anybody else pulling for Davidson to pull off the upset tonight? (sorry nicky)
i am way nervous about this game, and it will be hard for me to root against davidson (but not that hard).
-
Huh. Who would have thunk it -- not me that's for sure. I just wish I had some dough on this
you usurped me! now i just have to root for memphis to go down.

just got back from a nice swim workout. i was in the pool for an hour, and swam about two miles. it was the first time i've been when it wasn't a women-only swim, but i kept up with the boys pretty well.
the pool i go to is regular-sized, but it only has three lanes: slow, medium, and fast. i was in the fast lane, with the most people in it, and everyone was kind of on top of each other. good training for the triathlon, i suppose.

I would love to see Hillary drop out now, but I guess I can't fault her for wanting to hold out until the Pennsylvania primary. The thing is, even if she wins Pennsylvania by a fair margin, it still won't close the delegate gap significantly -- so this is all academic, in my eyes.
I have become progressively more disillusioned about Hillary as this has dragged on. I don't like the tactics employed by her campaign recently, and I don't like the things she has said. She seems almost maniacal in her determination to find a way to win the nomination at all costs, and it's not a very flattering image.
Do I think this hurts the Democratic party? Well, it doesn't help. I do think there's a short-term hit, but if anything it'll toughen up Obama for the general election (yes, I'm anointing him as the nominee, you heard it here first). Over the long term, I think the effects will be minimal -- unless Hillary steps up the nastiness even further, which is certainly not out of the question, given the direction her campaign's been heading.
well said. my thoughts exactly.

matt holliday. double blah.
also, i resent that the quiz was tailored only for boys. it was very difficult to answer the haircut question.
-
get well soon vibes to tara, dunja! both of you will be in my thoughts.
-
come on, davidson!

with all the dudes in the pool, it's two girls and a skyflynn in the top three.
