damn, i'm going to santa fe in may, but over memorial day - may 9 is too late. guess i'll just have to hope for some east coast dates.

I figured because this is shortly after they've returned home, the world-wide hype and fame of the Oceanic 6 is probably really high at the point, and Hurley was glad that it would just be a small private escape from all of that. Like "awesome, we don't have to be the Oceanic Six right now, we can just be two people." Since that's how he reacted to the fame of being a lotto winner, ya know.
good call.

i don't understand why hurley said, "awesome!" when sun told him no one else was coming. that was kind of a weird, creepy moment.
next week's episode has to be good, right?

have dinner here - i used to go there all the time when i lived in madison. it's pretty casual, but fun, and there's usually a dj spinning in case the conversation is lacking.
as far as after dinner... umm, drink? genna's has a great jukebox and stiff drinks, and mickey's is the best dive bar in town, in my opinion.
you can also check out www.thedailypage.com for other stuff going on this weekend.

jin had a flashback, sun had a flash forward.
michael = kevin johnson = dude in the coffin/newspaper article?

the most wonderful time of the year.

this thread makes me so happy.
i will try to add some swimming tips if i can - kim's advice has been right on!
-
I'm definitely interested although am NOT into training for the swim. I ran a 10K in the fall and hope to run a half marathon this coming fall, but the swimming freaks me a bit.
Do you have to be in teams?
most people do it individually, but it sounds like you, allison and kim would make a perfect team.

i registered last night, so i'm in for sure.

i have a miniature stove - probably from the early 1900's - that sits on my coffee table; i got it helping my mom clean out my great aunt's home after she died last summer. it's from belleville, illinois, where my great uncle worked on the railroad.
oh, and my grandma's diamond wedding ring, its about 60+ years old.

.75K Swim, 20K Bike, 5K Run
i could pretty easily do the bike and run/walk, but .75 miles swimming is like 54 laps in a 25 yard pool. Maybe if I had 4 days I could do that.
Otherwise, it sounds like all kinds of fun
well, it's .75 K, so only about a half-mile - about 800 yards, or 32 laps.
I grew up in Kenosha, and most of my family still lives there. You have to do the Cheese Castle. Also visit Tenuta's Italian Deli, and the Jelly Belly Factory. (They don't actually make them there, but you can still take a tour and buy cheap "belly flops.")the bike route goes right by the factory!

this is also near the sign for bong recreational area (and probably the actual area, but the sign is better).

in!
you can hold out cups of water for us.

we started talking about this over in the RTT, but i wanted to post it over here so more people can see it.
for the past three years, i've participated in the danskin triathlon with my mom, aunts, and cousins. it's an amazing, empowering experience, and everyone can do it (even if you're totally out of shape!)
the race is july 12-13, in kenosha, wisconsin (about a 30-45 minute drive from chicago). i'm already fully committed to do it with my family, and kate (reni) is also sounding like she's in, so if anyone else is interested or wants to find out more about it, let me know.
there is also talk about having a little get together to see a (couple?) baseball game(s) over the same weekend, so for those of you don't want to do the race, but would like to get together all the same. (poppydawn has already volunteered to be our beer-swilling cheerleader) there are games that weekend at both wrigley and miller park, so it's pretty open at the moment.
thoughts?

i was really enjoying that episode until about the last ten minutes. so much promise, not enough follow through.

anyone catch what the therapist's first name was? annie, perhaps?

i think i am going to drift off to sleep listening to this show tonight.
-
i just rewatched the episode, a couple of thoughts:
-i get why faraday couldn't remember and desmond could in this episode - what i was referring to was when he was playing cards and could barely remember them. it seemed like he and charlotte were experimenting with controlled time travel and he couldn't remember as well as desmond could (maybe because his time travel wasn't as extreme? i don't know)
-if, like faraday said when he and desmond were at oxford, you can't change the future, and if, as desmond said, faraday wouldn't remember their meeting at oxford, how does penny remember her meeting with desmond when he tells her he's going to call her? or does she remember?
-the "sickness," aka time travel, that minkowski and his partner had (and desmond has but gets cured), could this be the same thing that happened to danielle's group? and maybe she didn't get it for whatever reason because she was pregnant?
-
so desmond can remember things while time traveling, but faraday can't? i wonder why that is, and i wonder if that's why he started crying while watching the 815 wreckage footage.
and how is it that a day passed on the island for twenty minutes in the helicopter, but it's december 24th both on and off the island?!
ugghhh, this show.

i would do a lot of things to be able to see a wilco show here this weekend.

just remember, planes want to be in the air.
