  1. What Sean really bought at lunch:
  2. Missing this guy bigtime http://www.archive.org/download/gd89-04-08...08d1t04_vbr.mp3
  3. Another great weekend coming up. Branford Marsalis at the Birchmere on Thursday night. Maybe a cruise along Skyline Drive for some early foliage on Friday, then this free event at the Kennedy Center on Sat: http://www.kennedy-center.org/calendar/ind...amp;event=ZGOPN.
  4. It's a very dark picture. You should be able to see the Washington Monument and the upper left of the Lincoln Memorial clearly on the lower left side of the shot. Then there's a fairly shadowed/dark American Flag centered in the top middle. The Iwo Jima statue is right side bottom half and VERY shadowed/dark.
  5. I've been there, but didn't go that night. I was on my way from a moonlight hike at the National Arboretum and time was limited. It's so great living in D.C. There's so much to do on any given night.
  6. You shouldn't scream like that. It can be very damaging to the vocal chords.
  7. This is going to be a great weekend. Every day, I count my lucky stars that I live in such a culturally vibrant area. Tonight I'm going to the National Arboretum for a Full Moon hike: http://www.usna.usda.gov/Education/events.html Then tomorrow I'm hitting the cat show in the morning, then the Radiators are playing in Falls Church tomorrow night. Sunday will be NFL and Golden Tee.
  8. There's a 4 disc Live Pig compilation circulating. For some reason, I haven't picked it up yet. I'll have to do that soon.

  10. Update: You guys are doing pretty well. Up to 110 bucks already that I know of.
  11. Nothing like some welltimed leeching. I've gotten more pms in the last 15 minutes or so than I have since I joined the board.
  12. First 500 bucks (reasonable offers considered too) and I stop posting. Certified checks or money orders only, of course.
  13. I love the Cybershots. The Carl Zeiss lenses are impossible to beat for pocket cameras. I've got a P200 that I carry with me as well as the Rebel for the convenience and for the video feature. Can't go wrong with one of those at all. That sunset shot is awesome!
  14. For the slight extra price, it's well worth it as a starter. You'll likely want to upgrade pretty soon. It takes decently sharp outdoor daytime shots and covers a good bit of area but it's awful for lowlight/indoors (I hate using a flash) and I always find myself wanting some extra reach. I like primes for the clarity for all shots and as many show photos as I take, I needed faster lenses, so I got those 3 I listed above. I really want to add a 28-200 if I can find one at a decent price. Then I could just use that for all the outdoor shots and only carry the primes for shows. Just got
  15. Crypityque might scold me if I did.
  16. I've had a Rebel XT since April. Can't say enough good things about it. Two drawbacks: the handgrip is way small and takes some getting used to and the timer button is really easy to accidentally hit with your nose. But those are pretty minor overall. The picture quality (even at ISO 1600), options and ease of use far outweigh any drawbacks. I've used it primarily for concerts, people and landscapes and been extremely happy with the results at all of them. I can't compare it to its predecessor, though, as I don't know anything about that camera. Here's a few shots from this summer
  17. I considered bidding on this, but I realized that I'm already so well respected and revered around these parts that being a gold member would do nothing for me.
  18. So I returned from a long weekend to find ALL the Hohos gone and lots of chocolate crumbs in Sean's office.
  19. Fare you well, my honey Fare you well, my only true one All the birds that were singing Are flown, except you alone Gonna leave this brokedown palace On my hands and my knees, I will roll, roll, roll Make myself a bed by the waterside In my time, in my time, I will roll, roll, roll In a bed, in a bed By the waterside I will lay my head Listen to the river sing sweet songs To rock my soul River gonna take me, sing me sweet and sleepy Sing me sweet and sleepy all the way back home It's a far gone lullaby sung many years ago Mama, Mama, many worlds I've come since I first left home Going
