Damn, that was an odd review. Another odd thing, I remember somone on the Farrar message board getting quoted in something a week or so ago.

Great post! You hit the nail on the head, I find these statments very true for myself regarding criticism.

Oh boy, I really miss going to Tipitinas, its always been one of my favorite venues, I've never gone to that place and NOT had a good time. I'll never forget when I saw Medeski Martin & Wood there, talk about a mind-blowing experience. Edit: I just noticed I'm not a cherry ghost anymore, let me pat myself on the back.

True, us hicks usually do get pretty rowdy even for no-name bands in no-name bars, but on this occassion it was different, maybe we thought we had to behave because we were in a "performing arts center", I dunno. I was quite calm for myself, I usually get rowdy myself, but not this time.

The show was good but did seem a bit rushed. I thought the Vodka incident was harmless and Tweedy had fun with it. Pat Sansone looks like hes living his rock n roll fantasy, you can tell he really loves to be onstage. Nels Cline = Awesome Nels really adds alot to the live show, I'm looking forward to his contribution on the new album. It was my first time to hear Lets Not Get Carried Away and I loved it and Walken is becoming a new favorite for me. The Meridian show this year was better imo. And damn, it would've been nice to hear California Stars, but oh well.

So, did any of you guys get your tickets in the mail?
-
I wouldn't worry too much, I've used other people's cards before and just had a photocopy of the credit card to show willcall. At lunch I checked the sheet of paper that I printed out and it did say, tickets ordered online are to be picked up at will call, I know its more reassuring to have a physical ticket in your hand, but just be sure to have correct documentation.

Me and my girl are going and I'm very excited to see the boys in Oxford on a Tuesday night, and then that Saturday I'll be going to see an old favorite, Widespread Panic w/Jimmy Herring!! Anyway, when I ordered tickets I think it said tickets would be picked up at will call, I remember printing out an order page. I'll check when I go home for lunch, to make sure I'm correct. Either way, if your tickets don't show up be SURE to have your Credit Card and ID, I've had this problem a few times going to shows, usually with ticketbastard. But as long as you have some type of documentation and/o

After 1st listen, I say the album is OK, nothing great and yes some of it is over produced, too many sounds, etc. But the album does have a few great moments.

Yeah and the funny thing is that K-Fed was trying his hardest to be legit and RA was probably just fucked up one night and spit these vicious rhymes into the mike.

I've been really enjoying the short EP "Chulahoma" (The Songs of Junior Kimbrough) alot, I've listened to it more than I have Magic Potion so far, Chulahoma was also released this year and I highly recommend it.

Halloween - The perfect excuse for qrown women to bring out their best whore outfit, I'm not complaining, just saying. One of my favorite while in college was a couple of guys that dressed up like Hall & Oates (their costumes were perfect) or the guy that dressed up like Anthrax, the chemical not the band. He wore white pants and a white t-shirt, painted his face white and covered himself in white baby powder. The Anthrax guy drew a skull & crossbones on the t-shirt with the lettering "ANTHRAX". It was hilarious, everywhere the guy went, there were people with white spots of powd

Does Jeff ever allow Pat to take guitar solos?
truetolife replied to easyover's topic in After The Show
I love a great guitar solo, shit I'm a sucker for them, but they must be done right and be within the context of the song, there's no need for meaningless noodling. A nice keyboard solo would be welcomed imo, I enjoy hearing the boundaries of a great tune being to something entirely different in a live setting, it keeps you on your toes. -
Yes, the LZ catalog is a great one to delve into, my favorite after all these years would be III, but I would begin with I and then go in order to atleast ZOSO. Another album that noone has mentioned is the BBC Sessions, this is a collection of live performances recorded at the BBC, its two discs and a couple of songs are represented twice, but the songs have a different feel on each disc. The first disc is more blues-oriented. I II III Zoso BBC Sessions

Make sure you have your sperm resistant keyboard protector on!

Jeff Tweedy & Fred Armison (artist on artist myspace video)
truetolife replied to truetolife's topic in Just A Fan
No, you don't have to be a member, I tryed to avoid the hype of joining myspace forever, but I eventually caved in and its actually a pretty good resource, its help me connect with alot of my old friends that are spread out across the country and keep up with my favorite bands. Its really great to talk to my best friend that is now serving duty overseas right now. So myspace isn't too bad after all, you can keep your profile private and only your friends can see it, if your paranoid. -
Jeff Tweedy & Fred Armison (artist on artist myspace video)
truetolife replied to truetolife's topic in Just A Fan
I dunno, I can't help you out too much right now, I'm on a restricet work PC right now that blocks myspace. But yesterday and this morning this was on the home page of Myspace (the first page when you access the site). Just look for the "Artists to Artists" title. -
Here's a laid back goofy conversation between the two just posted today. Jeff plays on the banjo a little and the two pretty much just act silly. Tweedy talks about how the name Wilco and Loose Fur ( it is a reference to Lucifer afterall). http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...eoid=1159788434

I'm still hoping the George Mc Connell rumor will come true, I got to see George play numerous times with the Kudzu Kings here in MS, he would definatly fit their style and is a great, down to earth guy. I never did get to see him play with WSP, but have tix to an upcoming show with Jimmy Herring as guitarist! I'll probably re-up a Kudzu Kings album tonight at the Palace. If interested be on the look-out for it.
-
The Kudzu Kings w/George Mc Connell would be another good option for the Oxford show. These guys were always a blast back in the day and George isn't playing with WSP anymore.
-
Cary Hudson would be a good choice for the Oxford, MS show. Edit: Well this might be a little odd for Cary since he used to be married to John Stirratts sister.

I found this site today while fighting workplace boredom. What to do in Tennessee this weekend?
truetolife replied to truetolife's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
The rooftop deal sounds interesting, museums and/or outdoors activities would be welcomed. -
My girlfriend and I are making a trip out of town this weekend for her b-day, most likely we will be heading towards southwestern TN (Memphis area). In my past trips to Memphis, its always been with my home-boys and the extent of our trips were Beale Street and Platinum Plus. I need some suggestions, I probably will try to catch a live band if there's a decent one playing. Help me out!
