  1. It's a fairly questionable parenting decision to allow your child to spend large blocks of time with a non related adult outside of some sanctioned function. Even those need to be monitored.

However, given what allegedly took place I can imagine that it's a fairly easy rationalization that your child and family would be better off taking the huge financial pay out and not further

dragging your child and family into what would be an enormous media circus/trial. I'd like to think most people would seek justice, but money makes people do weird things, and 22

million is a lot of money.

I wish I were Ben Kweller

Cause he writes those cool tunes

And he uses those cool minor chords

And you love the way he croons

You love the way he plays guitar and the way he blows his harp

If I were Ben Kweller I know I could win your heart

I wish I were Ben Kweller

Then I could be with you

Cause he knows Juliana, girl And Evan Dando too

He used to be in Radish Your favorite alternative band

If I were Ben Kweller I know I could hold your hand

    I'd sit outside your window

And sing the song that goes Sha Sha, Sha Doo

Cause I wanna be with you

I wish I were Ben Kweller

And he uses those cool minor chords

And you love the way he croons

He used to be in Radish Your favorite sugar-metal band

If I were Ben Kweller I know I could hold your hand

  3. (CNN) -- A federal jury Thursday found a 32-year-old Minnesota woman guilty of illegally downloading music from the Internet and fined her $80,000 each -- a total of $1.9 million -- for 24 songs.

Illegal downloads of musical files will cost a Minnesota woman $1.9 million, a jury has decided.

Jammie Thomas-Rasset's case was the first such copyright infringement case to go to trial in the United States, her attorney said.

Attorney Joe Sibley said that his client was shocked at fine, noting that the price tag on the songs she downloaded was 99 cents.

She plans to appeal, he said.

Cara Duckworth, a spokeswoman for the Recording Industry Association of America, said the RIIA was "pleased that the jury agreed with the evidence and found the defendant liable."

"We appreciate the jury's service and that they take this as seriously as we do," she said.

Thomas-Rasset downloaded work by artists such as No Doubt, Linkin Park, Gloria Estefan and Sheryl Crow.

The fines jumped considerably from the first trial, which granted just $220,000 to the recording companies.

  4. This morning's mail from match.com

I have to say it is such a bummer to have someone come up on "Who's viewed you"... read their profile and really think it's great... all to see that they are not interested in dating your race. : (

At any rate good you seem like a great guy.

I've worked through the various ways of dispelling my new racist status, but it seems the most logical and definitive, is to buy a ring. Granted she's 3 inches taller than me and lives in a town far too far away. True love knows no bounds, though.
