  1. that's what i thought, but according to Jeff (in the radio interview, no hardcopy) it is a sweet memory. there is a thread on here somewhere about it too. the bob edwards interview might be linked in that thread.

This is correct. The only reason why I remember it is because I listened to it on a long car ride...and the concept of a "cherry ghost" greatly influenced the directions I later took as a person.

  2. "Hey Jude" and "Yesterday" typify the kind of Beatles songs I just can't stand.

You deserve to be burned. Just kidding, but seriously...

Given that I'm a college kid and I have to deal with douchebags on a consistent basis, I've relaxed my "You don't think the Beatles are the best ever? You die..." sort of stance I used to adopt. But to play down importance of the Beatles is even worse. Like my friend, who thinks Anberlin is better than the Beatles...he should be taught a life lesson, or rather a lesson that will stay with him for the rest of his life, if you catch my drift.

  3. The Office was OK. The fact that they didn't want to royally mess up Jim-Pam's wedding severely limited what sort of funny they could include...but for what they could, it performed fine. The episode was more of a "touching"/"affecting" episode with all the cute moments like Jim cutting his tie to match Pam's veil, etc. etc., you know what I mean. It wasn't laugh out loud funny, just a bunch of "oh, hah" moments, which knocked it down a lot.

Also, I was lost at first with the whole ferry thing too. But in a way it makes sense to cut in and out of it because stylistically it would have sort of killed why Pam was more relaxed at the church after flipping out a bit ago if they strictly showed the ferry and then strictly showed the church. What use is the church scene and dance if the boat already happens? So you put them both in at the same time and cut back and forth. Perhaps it just wasn't done particularly smoothly, but really that's the only conceivable way for them to show that without losing momentum. But the whole dancing down the aisle thing was pretty fucking stupid. It was stupid in the Youtube video and it was in the episode. But that's my opinion on that sort of thing.

Of course, this negative opinion could all stem from the fact that Arrested Development is now my King Almighty.

  4. I hate doing this, but there's nothing better to do at this time in the night... :pirate

AM: Should've Been In Love / I Thought I Held You

BT: Say You Miss Me / Kingpin

ST: Pieholden Suite / We're Just Friends (no real bad tracks, though, it's way too hard to pick)

YHF: Reservations / I'm the Man Who Loves You

    AGIB: Hummingbird / I'm A Wheel

SBS: Impossible Germany / Either Way

W(ta): One Wing / You Never Know (to me I run into the ST problem, though, so this is just the slightly not as good track)

An album is an album to me, you distinguish it by its whole, not its tracks.

  5. Two of the best bands of the past decade and a lot of people's favorites on this board. I don't think it has much to do with a comparison of their sound as much as a comparison of their career arcs and how they relate.

This, but I still think it's absolutely loony to compare them in the "who is better?" sense. If it makes a difference, Radiohead is almost impossible for me to listen to unless I'm in the right mood. Wilco can generally go on at any time and work just fine for me. But that does not mean Wilco > Radiohead or vice versa. In the right mood, Radiohead makes boatloads more of an emotional connection with me than Wilco will.

  6. My initial thought was to wear traditional garb and go as one of potentially many famous Chinese people, but I think it may be altogether funnier if I went around with some Kanye shades, a jacket, and a mic, interrupting peoples conversations as in "Yo, girl, I know you be talkin', and Imma let you finish, but Winston Churchill had one of the best speeches of ALL TIME!" and then run away.
