  1. sorry, but i have to say you're crazy there. if you went to both it's a lot closer, but take out the repeats from both nights and compare. tonight's second half was almost better than the whole show last night.

I was there both nights and as an EXPERT I can unequivocalbly say that, taking both nights into consideration, that .... that.... that... I really like Wilco.

  2. Just back from the show... add ELT and Hoo Doo to the end... the crowd was cherring and clapping over the music and the crew disassembling and the house lights on...just refused to leave til they came back for two more..

One of the best shows I've seen, better than last night and that is sayin something. What an amazing show!

    Some strange stuff:

Had an extra ticket and get there at 8:25. walked up to an obvious fan who was bummed at standing in the cold. Offerd him the ticket for face value. He was incredibly skeptical. He said "Why so little?" I said "because that's what I paid for it. If you would feel better paying more you can give me $1 more." It was what is known in the biz as a joke. He gave me a fifty and told me that that was all he had. He began to walk in. I ran up to him and gave him the $15 change. Bizarre. Didn't seem even happy about getting in.

the crowd was much less fratty catty than last night. Only saw one taper. Sound was great throughout, was at the top in the last row and then made it into the pit at the break.\

Bird was too low in the mix for my taste but it was nice to see. He missed the first verse of Passenger Side. Mr Tweedy mentioned hemust have been napping.

Hoo Doo was a brilliant mess and was actualy stopped 1/3 in becuase Jeff said something didn't sound right. They started it back up and then played it with passion. It was nice to see the band out of theplanned set list and their comfort zone a bit, even though it was an older tune... will be great to see the next three...

  3. New Haven is great and the Schubert is a cool, old theater. If you are making a day of it, the Yale art museums are excellent and free. There's also a decent independent record store called Cutler's. You can't go wrong w/ pizza at BAR, Sally's, Pepe's or Modern. BAR is closest and is also a brewery w/ good, fresh beer and has good bands for free in the back room on Sunday sights. Louis' Lunch is across the street and stakes a legitimate claim to the first hamburger in the US. As mentioned above, it is unlike any burger you've had anywhere else. Can't wait for the show...

HOLY CRAP. whe did louis Lunch get a website? it is a great weird hamburger. Ahh I miss the Apizz and the louis... now if I can just get some jimmies on my cone, I will have completely regressed...

  4. My guess is that tickets will free up as we get closer. remember we have almost 60 days before the shows and some peoples plans will change, especially out of towners. You'll see the midweek tickets free up. Post your need on VC and hold on..

  5. Here's how bad it is though: On e-bay there are people selling the PASSWOIRDS --that's right the passwords that are free on Wilco's site and Ticketmasters site-- for $1.95!! I emailed teh guy for kicks and asked him if the password was the same as the free oneon the wilco site, and he said it was. Judging from teh 50 or so comments on the transactions for this, he'd raked in $100 for selling a publically-available word. Oy!

  6. The Dead used to do a mail order for their shows (like a pre-sale before they went to ticket master/box office/whatever) and that usually worked pretty well. They "simply" printed their own tickets through their own ticket agency that they created.

Everyone got a fair shake as the postmark had to be on/by a certain, iirc. I don't recall ever not getting tix to shows through that system. I believe Ratdog (Bob Weir's band) and Phil Lesh & Friends still do the mail-order, as it's run by their own ticket agency. In fact, bands like SCI have done this, too.

I know my point is different than yours, but I wanted to show that their can be alternatives. Then again, with wilco playing relatively small venues I'm not sure it would be financially reasonable to expect them to go this route. The bottom line is, there're only so many seats/tix and people will always get shut out in crap shoots like this. especially when the doors are open to scalpers.

I was reminded of teh same thing. Used to be able to get NYE tix for the Dead this way. The fans came first. I am pretty sure that the guys in the Dead office, filed away the 3x5 cards and chucked known scalpers... it was a great thing for the fans, but probably too expensive for Wilco more downhome approach..

it was funny too that it all worked by phone and mail instead of internet sales... different time

  7. CHICAGO PIZZA SUCKS, had to throw that out there, and for the record i checked out local NH online and its not nearly has bad as i though, i always thought of NH as a poor man's harford with a nice college on the side but it seems to be a respectable place

I'm originally from New Haven and live in Chicago and I can say AMEN brother. Pepes pizza with a White Birch soda is wht happens to you when you die if you are Ghandi... extraordinary, cola fired ovens. Don't forget the white birch soda. Also' Lous Lunch serves the srangest hmburgers the world has ever seen. Cooked like a grilled cheese in a whirly machine. Also never ask for ketchup there or you wil be killed. Tough but fair

Enjoy the Schubert. great old theater

  8. As I was begin shut out of tickets overthe last few days i really enjoyes some of the ticketmaster capture words that I had to endure: among them ordeal and ashes... one guy previously posted that he received "failure" as his... any other good ones out there

  9. Well that's me buggered. I see on the site it says the presale is over. And no 5 day tickets left. I could try to get individual tickets from 12 tomorrow but I seem to have no ticket mojo.

Guess I won't be '...coming home, via Chicago' anymore.

    Great, now I'm crying. Awesome.

According to the wilco site individual tickets go on sale today at noon, "public" tomorrow at noon whatever the hell that means
