  1. As a member of several concert experiences with the band Wilco, I believe that I am entitled to proceeds of the concerts I have attended, for with out me there would be no audience, an integral part of the Wilco concert experience. Furthermore, the hand claps furnished on "Kingpin" during the "Kicking Televsion" we're 1/2,300th mine and as such I deserve 1) a seat on the tour bus 2) free fill-ups at all Wilco gas stations in North Carolina and 3) the rights to name the next 7 albums.

    See you in court sonny

  2. PS: I totally recommend the chef's special omelet at the Tupelo Honey Cafe. Very yummy!

That place was incredible! I stumbled upon it after a long flight and a long rive from Charlotte. I think it may be the best meal I ever had... DELISH

  3. Fantastic show... Partly cuz the band seemed in great spirits, and partly because of the sheer diversity of songs from their entire career. Not only did they hit every album (including both Mermaids) but they gave most of them equal weight... 3 from Being There and Mermaid 1&2, 5 from YHF, and 4 each from Summerteeth, Ghost, and SBS. Hearing the Summerteeth tracks that don't get played as much (Candyfloss, Always In Love, She's A Jar) was a highlight... along with the twin openers from Being There unfurling the main set and the last encore. Nice serendipity.

I don't think the setlist is 100% accurate though. You Are My Face was the 3rd song played (right after Mountain Bed) and Pot Kettle Black was more towards the end of the main set... maybe before Heavy Metal Drummer??

    --Rich

Rich You are right about You Are My Face. Played right after Mountain Bed.

Was on my set list but forgot it above, maybe our admin can correct.

Pot Kettle Black was right after IATTBYH. That one's right...

  4. I didn't feel that from the band (having a blast). And the banter last night was "interesting." :omg

Really enjoyed Sad and Lonely and She's a Jar. Pretty damn cool with the internet requests. Who else does that? Thank you Wilco.

I have to agree. Maybe they're a little tuckered, or maybe there was an early curfew. Seemed like a it of a rush?

  5. Ooops just was laying donw to sleep and realized they played Late Greats and not Radio Cure.. so replace Radio Cure with Late Greats in the set list... too much driving today

mod edit: fixed it for you!

    Thanks Mod

  6. Solid show tonight, though it seemed a bit shorter than some of the past shows. Jeff was handed a note before the last song and they ended things there. Not sure who the cute little girl who helped Jeff sing Hummingbird, and do the Hummingbiord dance, but it was beautiful. Other highlights were the massive rock poses prior to I'm the Man Who Loves You and the dueling guitar duet in the middle of Hoo Doo. Little banter from the band tonight, and the room was a bit odd; very long auditorium with seat placed on angles, but not angled enough, if that makes sense.

But Asheville was spectacular and it was nice to see the band outside of Chitown USA

    Here's the set list:

    Sunken Treasure

    Mountain Bed

    IATTBYH

    Pot Kettle Black

  7. YLT 's Heart is a perfect complete album... aside from the previously mentioned tracks, love Little Honda. Just awesome. Also Painful and Electropura are close to perfect as well... Season of teh Shark is another great tne, more understated than some of their previous stuff

For fans of Rock Sugarcube and videos ...

  8. You guys all try living in rural northern Ontario! I drive 5-10 hours for every show I go to!

Oh yeah Well I live 30 miles underground in a futuristic bunker fighting off the mole men for all you surface dwellers. We only get KC and the Sunshine band and men at work tribute bands...

  9. I know you have been all waiting for me to wade in... hehehe

Saw Uncle Tupelo and Wilco Jay Bennett style four times between ... saw current incarnation about 20 times...no doubt the band now is much tighter and less ragged than the old Wilco... listened to a Thangisviing show from the Riviera '99 a few weeks back and it is a much flatter and not as good as the band of the last few years... the playing these days is incredible, even songs that I say "feh" to still lure me in... Haven't seen JB play in years and, honestly, haven't been real interested.

  10. Um...I don't think it's quite that literal. He did jokingly say that we were all probably trying to figure out the hidden meaning of that song, but nope--it's about what we all suspect it's about. (Well, unless you think it's about an actual piece of pecan pie.)

I slept with a pecan pie once and I can tell you it's not all that great.

  11. I agree with you - particularity when people are not suppose to be "video taping" Wilco/Jeff Tweedy shows to begin with.

I find it a bit odd that sometimes people post a link to a video in a thread and it gets removed, and other times, it does not.

I agree it is a weird dynamic, especially the weird "target lights" that kept being thrown up on jeff's face. I took about 8 pix each night, but felt very weird doing it. I took off the flash and covered up the target light. Jeff noted on the 2nd night to a guy, sitting dead center, first row, to put the camera away. He'd been literally taking viedo and pictures the entire time.

  12. no. i'm a total newbie. any step by step help you can provide would be much appreciated.

    many thanks in advance!

Shorten (SHN) is the lossless audio compression codec that we use.

FLAC is a new, free lossless audio codec which may supplant SHN in the future. It can support higher audio resolutions (e.g. DVD-A) and compresses CD-quality audio better than Shorten.

  13. Hi All

New to this forum. I was at the 2/13 show and loved it. How can I get a copy of the music (not the videos?). I know I saw tapers there.... (sorry if this comes off too naive...)

It was such an amazing show. I really didn't want it to end.

usually the shows are posted on dimeadozen or etree. Do you know how to download using a torrent?

  14. Jeff mentioned/joked that the new record was going to be named Diver Down, but I'm pretty sure he was just ripping on Van Halen.

there was a guy up front suggeesting they name the album Van Halen II, which Jeff declined but he mused that so many lbums are named fter classic rock albums and not after shitty hair metal bands. I guess OU812 is out of the question

  15. you keep saying this, unless there was another one then the one behind you, don't be surprised if it takes awhile. unless you taped the show, you shouldn't speak for the speediness of the tapers.

you are correct... just going by what he told me. all good things in all good time

  16. Chiyowwww Chiyowwwww

After last night's show and Jeff's comments, there is some debate as to whether the phrasing is "Chiyowwww Chiyowwwww" or "Tiyowwww Tiyowwwww"... according to Jeff, it is "Chiyowwww Chiyowwwww", but Sue corrected hm and said there is no "Ch" at the front and it is pronounced "Tiyowwww Tiyowwwww". Sounds a lot like the age-old "Chunnukah" / "Hannukah" controversy...

I am going with "Chiyowwww Chiyowwwww"

  17. Just back from the 2nd night. Maybe not as great as the first night but still plenty special.

    Some of the highlights:

    More Like the moon

Simple Twist of Fate (this time error free!)

Always in love with wedding proposal at the begninng... Congrats Scott and Megan

    New Madrid

    Be Not So Fearful

    I'm a Dog - Stooges

    Ruling Class

    IATTBYH

    Ruling Class

    Shot in the Arm

    California Stars sing along

As a side note, I was up front again and got to deliver the roses from Jeff to Sue who was standing near the back, she gave me a kiss to return to Jeff. I was walking back to my seat and told Jeff that she sent him a kiss back. Jeff came to the front of the stage for a smooch so I passed along a peck on the hand. Very strange way to start a show.
