First, I'll burn each show. Then I will do each album. And then... Plus, I'm going to totally geek out on the artwork for each disc.
Hey, a man's gotta have a hobby.

Bless you tapers!!! Bless you one and all!!!

Nice job!
Great sound and camera work.

These motherfu . . . uh, *cough* gentlemen better not be outta gas when they hit Cleveland next week.
WORD!!!

it would pay a lot of dividends in the future, giving them a much larger range of material to work with.
i'm excited to hear reworked versions of AM, being there and summerteeth... even if it's only on tape.
as much as i love seeing them live, i've grown a little tired of the predictability in their setlist structure.
We're seeing the boys in Cleveland right after the residency, so I'm hoping for those "dividends". The injection of some "new" songs into the set list has definitly got me a bit more pumped than usual for the show (our front row tickets don't hurt either).
While the setlist is a bit predictable, I've seen Wilco 5 or 6 times over the last couple of years and they played at the very least one song I hadn't seen before. Compared to MOST bands that is pretty damned good.

Give me one night, a couple bottles of whiskey and Scarlett Johansson.
I like your thinking friend!

I also got into a cab the other day, and the local radio station the driver was listening to used "box full of letters" for their mailbag segment. quite a way for a wilco fan to enter a taxi.

World Wide Stout and 120 minute IPA for Dogfish
also another Bell's, and my favorite drink for cool summer nights by a camp fire
Me and a buddy of mine killed a six pack of random high test Bell's stuff last weekend. There was a cherry stout, expedition stout, a couple different years of eccentric ale. The kicker is they were all at least 8-10 years old. This was the last of my once extensive beer cellar. Thinking of my cellar, I'll toss this one in.
This'll help you make it through the winter.

Thanks everyone for the great Christmas tunes! Mine were getting a little stale. However, the first tune I did play for the kids this year was "Christmas in Hollis".
Someone on this thread mentioned Willie Nelson's "Pretty Paper".....its an album that he put out in 1979 and covers all the x-mas classics........as someone who cant stand x-mas music in general and especially the 'classics'.....this album is good, very good....not sure if its still in circulation (I bought the vinyl version for a quarter years ago) but if it is, get it!I have a great live version of Chris Isaak doing the Dradle Song as himself then a spot on Wille Nelson then doing Pretty Paper. A really great old country Christmas tune.

I think that those of you who cannot make these shows may still be beneficiaries. The shows will serve to greatly expand the available reportoire and so they easily could play any of the songs on any given night.
That is what the Mrs. and I are hoping. We scored row A tickets to Cleveland, so we decided (actually reality and our checkbook decided) that we wouldn't even try for Saturday in Chicago. The fact that the venue is 10 minutes from one of my favorite North American breweries didn't hurt either. I just hope the boys have a little left in their gas tank after THE concert event of 08.

The Mrs. passed up row L on the Musictoday presale yesterday in the hopes of re-entering and scoring better seats. Alas she was shut out. She tried the Nokia presale this morning and we're in the front row center stage (WOO HOO) . Merry Christmas to us. It pays to keep trying.

Thanks Weirdness! Your work is VERY appreciated!
I'll drink to that!!!

Wow!!!
A great night was had by our group. Wilco played a stellar set that really seemed to zip past too quickly. The dragon's eggs at Union Street were great as always (and for a change the service was speedy and efficient). Parking was free and a breeze. We walked through the door at the Town Pump and there were two seats opening at the bar. I ran into some friends I hadn't seen in years. So a great night.
We almost missed Wilco opening due to the control freak ushers.
My first thought: When did Jeff get a Nudie suit?
Followed by: What kind of shoes does one wear with a Nudie suit?
Any answers to the second question would be apreciated.
Highlights for me: Pot Kettle Black - a song I hum constantly
Side with the Seeds - my fave from SBS
Shot in the Arm - Always
Spiders - the grin from Jeff at the crowd cheer from the first "on a private beach in Michigan". It was the kind of grin that said, "I knew they were gonna do that."
Jesus Etc. w Andrew Bird - just beautiful
the second encore - nuff said.
For the missus a big shout out goes to Phil who was kind enough to lend her his second row pit seat for the second encore. It capped off her night (week? month?). And probably amused John and Pat.

I gotta have me some dragon's eggs, so Union Street is the place for me (across the street from the Majestic). Atlas Global Bistro (between Union Street and the Fox) is great as well. And maybe a pint of Ghetto Blaster from Motor City Brewing on Second and Cass(ish). The Missus and I are really really looking forward to the show. Have a great time everyone!!!

Yesssssss.....finally!
Also,
Flaming Lips 10/1 at Clutch Cargo
Of Montreal 10/9 at the Majestic
Makes up for a lackluster summer.
Don't forget
Van Halen 10/22 @ The Palace
After having to sell our 3rd row seats for Massey Hall, my wife and I are extremely happy for a hometown show. We thought we were going to have to make a road trip to catch a show this year (not that we mind). The Fox is a beautiful venue. I've seen Keith Richards, The Smiths, Echo & the Bunnymen, George Clinton and the P-Funk All-Stars, The Alarm, and a bunch of other forgotten bands.

Not much I can add that hasn't been said already. It was a great show by a great band at a prime moment in their careers.
I took the train up from Windsor, about a 4 hour trip each way, just for this concert - and it was worth it!
Was too far away during the show to get any decent pics with my digicam, which didn't stop me from trying a couple of times. However I was lucky enough to meet the band after the show. They signed autographs, posed for pictures, and chatted a bit. Great guys. Jeff wished us a happy Canada Day, which by this point in the evening (morning?) it already was. And it was! When asked if they were planning on returning to the Detroit area Glenn said absolutely and that a mid-west tour would be happening at the end of the year. Fingers crossed they play the State theatre (the Fillmore? I guess it's name changed), or the Opera House, which I hear is nice too.
My wife and I had to sell our 3rd row seats, so we've got our fingers crossed for a Deetroit (or as they say in Canada Detroy-it) date this fall. The State would be killer, but far too small. I could live with the opera house. Shit, I'd be happy without having to drive more than 2 hours (though we would).

If I were you I'd put 'em on Criagslist now (toronto) and when you get replies just explain that you expect the tix any day. You can overnight mail them....should be plenty of time 'til the 30th.
I've never used Craigslist. How do people usually work out payment for tickets?
-
Anybody yet? I'm worried!!! I haven't received my tickets yet and I won't be able use them (family crisis). I hope I'll be able to sell them 12 days before the show. It's a real bummer cause these are the best seats I would've had for Wilco (row C on the floor).
-
Hey all - Just wondering if any of you who ordered tickets for the Massey Hall, Toronto ONT show during the pre-sale on the wilco web site got your tickets yet. we are still waiting for them to come in the mail.
Reason i'm asking is that i may not be able to go and may need to sell them.
i'm so bummed cause they are great seats.
Number of tickets: 2, Seat Locations: Section SEC RSF, Row C, Seats (45, 46)

Really waiting for this next week.

My wife and I will be there in the front row. It is my first time that close for any show and I'm extremely geeked. We've got our fingers crossed for lots of setlist craziness. As if front row tickets for my fave band weren't enough the venue is 10 min. from my fave brewery - Great Lakes Brewing Co.
