  1. i have found that most sergers are very similar, so you should get a generic serger book at the liberry or book store. they are very helpful in understanding the general workings of the serger.
  2. Happy Birthday Edie! I hope you have a pickle free year! xoxo
  3. i once sewed a zipper to my finger and it barely hurt and i didn't even get blood on my outfit.
  4. sewing is easy. You don't really need to know math.
  5. do me a solid and send that to NC for me, will ya?
  6. HEY! i can't help it if i was almost unbeatable!
  7. Happy Birthday Laminator: I hope this is the year the dogs NEVER run away on a cold night.
  8. i need someone to teach me. I'm not good with written directions. I have to see it in order to do it. i am good with graph paper though. I probably could design fun things. when i was a teenager i designed a hat and mitten set for the mom of the little girls i was the babysitter for. They had snowflakes. she knitted the set for me--turned out nice. I wonder what happened to that little set? i guess it was about a million years ago.
  9. when i use priceline for Chicago i do Loop and North Michigan Ave. And the last time we were there, we got a great room at the Palmer House for $100. Very centrally located.
  10. i think a hat like that skull one, but with cat heads, would be a big hit.
  11. Dear People: As several of you know, I (and caliber too!) have done the Jamestown Penguin Plunge for Special Olympics, with my best guy friend Tom. This year, because of my illness, I am unable to plunge, but I am supporting my plunge buddy, and good friend and Wilco fan Tom, and I hope you can do, if you are so inclined. Tom took me to my first game at Fenway, and has been like a bruddah to me since my divorce--watching all the games from 2004 with me at the bar, and drawing the uniforms on all the voodoo dolls during the world series. He has been doing penguin plunge for over 20 years but
  12. threading a serger is a b*tch, so make sure you have the directions. But once it is threaded, if you're careful you will never have to thread it again (just tie on the new color and run it through). I have made many a funny hat with my serger. the only crafty thing i've done is make two christmas stockings for the dudes on the first floor.
  13. those latvian mittens and gloves just made me swoon.
  14. PS i totally love my serger. It makes pajamas a SNAP and anything with fleece is made better with a serger, that's for sure. I made a cool read dress entirely on my serger. Took a lot longer to cut it out (as it was kind of swippery fabwic) but it went together like buttah. i wish i could knit, but i have found that it requires counting and math, two things i don't do much of.
