That's a solid rule. That's also a supremely lame incentive. All he has to do is find one sleazy reporter (difficult?) and he's got close to a million and the report gets a chunk too. Maybe less cynically, a reporter just genuinely likes Curt (it could happen) and wants him to get the cash despite a so-so season, so he throws him a bone with a third place vote. Maybe even a first place vote. Crazier things have happened.
oh, i agree. i have no problem with performance based incentives, but award based incentives take it a little too far, in my 'pinion. i think it's funny that this rule won't take effect until 2013, though. seems like it would make a bigger impact if they just did it.

i eagerly await their new album, and look forward to whatever direction it takes, i'm sure it'll be intriguing at the very least. i've been very ready as of late for something new from them

Booker, Major Sublingual Duct's sophomore album may only have 12 tracks, but those twelve tracks span 145 minutes. A sprawling, if not risky, second effort will expand your horizon's beyond your comfort level -

according to peter gammons talks have cooled off. i think if he goes before the season it'll be to boston, if he goes during the season it'll be to the yankees. that's just my hunch.

it's starting to sound like santana is staying put

Oooo... this is rather good...
the album before that is a lot of fun as well

yeah, that was actually one of my first thoughts

yeah, it's the age old quandry of go for the gold, or possibly be a good team on the fence for a long time and hope you can pull it off along the way. this is how i feel about the a's. they are consistently a pretty good team that could be a lot better if they just went for it one of these years, instead they just keep hedging it every year. then there's the red sox who have decided they want to win and they want to win big. (and of course there are always the exceptions to this, such as the sox farm system producing some great assets last season.)

Schilling's take on the possibility of Santana in Boston (written yesterday):
A rotation featuring Beckett, Santana as the top two is pretty much as good as it can get. The thought of pitching behind these guys has to fire ya up. That being said I look at it like this.If we make the move we

i'm a big randy moss fan (and have been since he first came into the league), but man that guy needs to shave

yeah, sportscenter is certainly treating it as if it's all but done. they're talking to steve phillips right now and he's raving what a huge deal it is. and he's at the meetings, so it sounds pretty done
-
Unbelievable!!!
yeah, it's a huge deal. definitely took me by surprise today.
-
Tiger's/Marlins (Dontrelle and Cabrera) possible?
sportscenter just "broke" that this deal is happening and that it will be official by midnight after physicals
