Sure enough, some asshole has tickets to the DC show up at ebay for $230 apiece. Who knows if they actually got them in the presale or are just speculating...
Ha! What does he think this is, a Living Room show?!?!!
-
Ahh. I thought you might have talking about UPS getting robbed by scalpers!!
-
And the tickets are going out via UPS, so unfortunately scalpers can screw people.
What do you mean with the scalper and UPS?
-
Me too. Was it a presale of 10 tickets?
-
How much you want to be that Obama will be at the DC show??
Who knows, but it would be cool. I just checked out the pictures of the place....very nice. And presidential.

How is the stage being set up nowadays? In other words, which way is Bob facing, or where should I sit to be able to see the front of Bob and not his side or back? Last time I saw him a year ago we were on the left side of the hall when facing the stage and the view was great.

I've got this one closely nailed on the guitar, but I'm quite awful at writing music, so I'm not much help there...I play by ear.
You little tease!!
Can you give me just a little bit? Just chords, not full tabs?
Maybe I’m just a kid
Maybe I just don’t fit in
I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready I’m ready to go now
I don’t wanna go to school
But I don’t get to make the rules
Too early, too early, too early, too early in the morning
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Has to do something they don’t want to do
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Has to be something, oh, why is that true?
Maybe Im not so big
Maybe I just dont fit in
Im ready, Im ready, Im ready, Im ready for more now
And I dont wanna go to bed
Theres so much going on in my head
Not tired, not tired, not tired, not tired right now
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Has to do something they dont want to do
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Has to be something, oh, why is that true?
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Has to be something, lets have some fun
Na na na na na na na na na na
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Everybody, everybody, everybody, everybody
Everybody, everyone, somebody, anyone
Has to grow up
Lets have some fun

Does anyone have the chords to "Just A Kid"? I don't know if Wilco ever did it. I have it on a couple Tweedy bootlegs and it's a great song. It might be in here somewhere but the search engine didn't like the fact that all the words were 4 letters or less.
Thanks!

I'm trying to learn Pot Kettle Black in standard tuning. Yes, I know it's in Drop D or something but I just want to play it in regular tuning. The verses sound find with but the chorus is giving me problems. Here's what I'm going off of:
Chorus 1: Gmaj7 F# G E Gmaj7 Asus4 F# I'm tied in a knot but I'm not gonna get caught calling a pot kettle black E G E G D G D G Every song's a comeback, every moment's a little bit later
These are the chords I got from a version that I found in here, but I can't seem to make it work. Are the chords in the right places? Especially in the "pot kettle black" part? For the "ket - tle black" part there sounds like there should be 3 chords, one for each sylable, but again, when I play it, it doesn't sound right.
A little help?
Thanks!

probably, but it will not be available to the masses.
Awesome! I can't wait not to hear it.

Wilco allows audio taping. They announce that audio taping is allowed at the start of every show.
Bring your gear and don't take no for an answer. If someone tries to shut you down or not let you in, stay calm, hold your ground and ask to see the road manager or someone with the band. You should be able to get your stuff in and tape the show.

I discovered Wilco through bootleg trading, so the first time I heard anything pre YHF was from a live recording. At some point I went back and got all those old albums and I was shocked at how tame they sounded compared to the live versions. My feelings hold true to the rest of them too. I recently went back and listened to YHF and again I was amazed at how "bad" it was compared to the live versions of those songs.
So for me, every song is far superior when played live.

Here's to more "An Evening With" shows, less opening bands, and more weirdness like acoustic sets.
Hell, I'd love them to do a set of cover tunes or add a few cover tunes every night just to shake things up. Plus, nearly every time they do a cover, I get exposed a great new song or band. I'm counting on these guys to further my musical education!

New York tapers recording is as good as it gets.
Yeah, I just listened to his sample of Thank You Friends. To me, it sounds so much better than what I have so far (3-27 and 3-29). The high end comes through loud and clear. I wrote to him for a download, but I haven't heard back yet. Probably out taping.

Thanks for the reply. I'll track some of those down.
Which version of 3-29 do you have. I have 2 different ones (of the three I've seen) and both sound (to me anyway) like they were recorded from the closet of the venue. Everything sounds muffled and dull.
3-27 sounds better but still seems like someone left the dolby button pressed down. (For you kids out there who have never seen a cassette deck, but have heard of these mythical beasts, if you hit the dolby button it would cut the high end off the play back and I always thought it left the music sounding muffled like you were listening through a blanket). That's how I feel when I listen to this one....I want to hit the button that makes it less muddy and boosts the high end.
Thanks for the tip on 4-2. I'll check that one out. I've grabbed some of his stuff before.

I'm looking for a couple great sounding shows from the current tour but so far everything I've downloaded sounded pretty bad. No offense to any tapers out there. I thank you for your efforts. I'm a taper myself, and I know that sometimes in spite of your best efforts, the sound just isn't that good and the tapes don't sound that great. Great mics can't make bad sound sound good.
Do any of the recent shows sound really great? Which ones?

Long story short, I got everything from Passenger Side until the end. Sounds good too! I opted to record as WAV, to capture the fullest range of freqencies, and I'll convert to mp3. My question: should I bother uploading half of a show?
Yes! To the "upload" question. No! To the "mp3" question. Upload it in as high quality as you have and let the end user convert it donw if they want to.

Fantastic! Thanks!!!
Does anyone else think this sounds like a Pavement song? Wowie Zowie era.
-
Thanks folks! I also got a PM post chock full of good info, so I'm ready to hit the streets!

At the risk of sounding like a psycho stalker, I'm going to make this post:
I have to go to the Belleville, IL area next week for work and I would like to tour some of the old stomping grounds of Tweedy/UT/Wilco. Is something like that even possible? Are there any old stomping grounds to tour? When I read the book, "Learning How To Die" I seem to remember lots of talk about Jeff growing up there and the type of neighborhood he lived in and then later, the house that he and Jay F shared. Does anyone know where any of those places are?
No, I'm not looking to knock on Jeff's dad's door (if he still lives there) and harass him, I just figured since I was there anyway I might as well see where all the magic started.
Thanks.

Nice! Were you the dude with the big square camera.....about the size and shape of a toaster? Did you have a photo pass?
The caption should be "I'm watchin' you"
-
I went back and listened to the Richmond show and to me, he doesn't seem cranky or mad. In fact, I laughed when I heard his comments. Most of the stuff he says cracks me up. I hear it with a touch of sarcasm in his voice, not real anger.
-
I don't have too much to add, other than to say there were lots and lots of pics being taken around me. I could've sworn at one point Jeff stared down a guy in front of me who was one of the culprits but it didn't seem to phase the guy.
I saw this too (from up in the balcony). My buddy was down on the floor and said that this guy had a photo pass. If we're talking about the same guy that is. The guy I'm talking about held up a huge square camera and aimed it right at Jeff. Jeff stared down at him and pulled back and fluffed his hair and almost seemed to pose for him. He then said, "I'm watching you" and then when back into the song. Through the whole episode, Jeff looked a little angry or intimidating, but since he didn't have the guy thrown out, I figured he was just playing with a legit photographer.
Also, I never realized how long and thick Jeff's hair was. Does that make me weird?

Good God! I didn't even know there was a Thursday presale.
Where the hell do you go for the regular sale tomorrow (friday)? So far I'm 0 for 2. I'd like to reverse that sad trend.
