Overall, the album is good. Nothing spectacular or groundbreaking, but its enjoyable. Very, very laid back. The guitar work in Wilco is definitely taking a different direction, and I'm liking what I hear.

Best show I've ever been to. Had great seats (orch. row C). I too was surprised at the amount of people leaving for beer/ drinks or just plain leaving the show early.

That kid that tried to kiss Tweedy seemed nice to me.

Jeff gave a pretty good explanation of the event at his solo show in Champaign a few days later. Basically, the security at the show was a joke. It was held at a Shriner's temple, and according to Jeff they were more interested in hanging out at the bar than policing the show. So first this girl comes on stage and starts playing piano and no one gets her off. Later she's "convulsing on the ground" or something and in general just acting weird. Then, during "Airline to Heaven," this kid comes on stage. Jeff just expects him to do the usual "wooo! look at me!" and run back into the crowd -
See: Champaign show, 2006. Lamest. Crowd. Ever. Jeff clearly had a "you guys are a bunch of d-bags" attitude.

http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html It's in "FLAC" format. You can download codecs to be able to play those files in a lot of audio players, or you can use the program to convert them to MP3.

Well, as I'm watching the DVD, I think Jeff has seen much worse crowds. He really laid into the people that wouldn't shut up in Portland.

Is it just me or does Jeff really not like the crowd in Champaign? I saw Wilco play at Foellinger back in feb. '05, and both times he just seemed to be making fun of a lot of people in the audience. I've seen him elsewhere and it wasn't exactly the same dynamic. I think he just gets kind of annoyed at the "idiot college kids," but he takes it in stride and just gives it right back to them.

There's not a whole lot. They stop checking meters at 6pm and campus parking lots at 5 though.

Murphy's is ok for a college bar, but its still sort of a dump.
-
Haven't bought it yet. I'll pick one up tomorrow night if they're for sale at Jeff's solo show, though.

I'm going, and I live on campus. Foellinger is at the heart of campus, right at the end of the main quad. Most of the bars on campus are complete crap-holes, but there's some ok ones. Legends, Firehaus, or Bar Louie would probably be your best bets. All are less than a ten minute walk to Foellinger.

Anyone see the prices on eBay? $200 + for a pair of anything half-way decent.
