  1. The only thing a agree with this on list (besides the Clarkson thing) is OK Computer. I recently spent a lot of time with this record trying my best to enjoy it, but as Blender says, its kind of tuneless. There just aren't a lot songs on the record that stick with me, although I do love "No Surprises".

Man, that entire album sticks w/ me more than anything else in Radiohead's catalog (besides specific songs, like Knives Out).

    Blender is full of it.

  2. Cherry Bomb was definitely the better performance.

Their Letterman performance didn't sound so hot either, I guess it's just the nature of their sound, doesn't translate well through the TV.

Bet you Rob Pope never dreamed he would make it on SNL.

  3. NFL on Fox just used "It's Business Time" as their segue piece from pre-game into the Dallas/St. Louis game.

Yeah I turned the game on and heard Aikman or someone say "It certainly is business time" and I started humming the song and what do you know, the song came on. :dancing

  4. I didn't know they still made Munsingwear(sp?). Man, they made some great golf shirts.

There's a great shop at Northpark in Dallas if you ever are out this direction. There prices can be pretty steep but theres pretty much always a sale going on.

  5. I was about ten feet back from the stage, in front of Nels Cline (I was the tall dude in the SF Giants hat bopping up and down like a ten year old.) I must admit that it becomes less exciting as years progress as the crowd fails to know the words to older material. I had to laugh when Jeff asked if anyone recognized Too Far Apart. I felt quite self-concsious being the only one around me in a ten foot radius singing along to every word.

I was front row right smack in front of Nels (dark brown medium length hair, light blue shirt), and I'm only 20 and knew all the words to every song, but I do agree most Wilco fans my age that I know only seem to appreciate Summerteeth forward (not making an generalizations about VC'ers mind you). My best friend from from STL was with me in Dallas and A.M. is his favorite Wilco record, so between Too Far Apart, Just That Simple, and Casino Queen on Sunday at ACL, I think he could have died and gone to heaven.

  6. Justin Long ("I'm a Mac" guy) was backstage. There was a point where they kept holding the camera on Pat and rack focusing to Justin every time he turned around.

  7. I have a massive sunburn and 3 hours of sleep but the weekend was well worth it. Began with Wilco in Dallas on Friday. Drove down to Austin Saturday morning, had a few beers with some friends, went to Matt's El Rancho for a early dinner (my personal favorite Mexican place in Austin), and headed downtown to see The National at Emo's w/ Blond Redhead. Pat, Nels and John were in attendance at that show, I stood next to Pat for a little bit before The National came on. They played an amazing set, really the highlight of the weekend behind "Just That Simple" in Dallas. Matt Beringer puts so much into his vocals, he just meditates on every word, you can see how emotionally drained he is by the end of the set. Sunday we woke up early and saw The National again at ACL, another great performance. We caught the last bit of Ben Kweller and headed over to watch Common's set, which was the biggest surprise of the weekend and really fun. Walked over and watched all of Bloc Party's set, which was fine but fairly unexciting. Headed over to Wilco and it was just wonderful as everyones been saying, but it was nothing compared to standing 5 feet infront of Nels in Dallas. We opted to go ahead and drive back to Dallas since there was flights to catch and classes to attend in the morning. Great weekend, I need a nap now.

  8. I can't wait for the recording to hear John again, that was the highlight of the night.

Was anyone else standing on the right side of the stage when Dr. Dog was playing and the wasp was on Frank's guitar? That was intense! "I thought my guitar was cutting me" That made me cringe. Dr. Dog had a great set, perfect opener for Wilco. Who else thinks Scott McMicken looks like a miniature Britt Daniel?

  9. The 8 year old kid I was standing next to had one hell of a birthday...

How long has it been since the last time John sang "Just That Simple" with Wilco?

And does anybody know why those of us w/ blue tickets had them? Was it because of preorder? That was a sweet surprise getting to go in first.

Anyways, awesome show, sound was great, loving the large doses of A.M. and BT we got tonight.

  10. Just a little information on the game, it's called Team Fortress 2, it runs off the steam engine (Half Life 2)...and these commercials are online only available through the steam network (and eventually youtube etc). I played Counter Strike and Team Fortress Classic all through high school, and since basically quitting video games a few years ago this is the only game that has remained on my radar (it's been in development with various scraped versions for 6 or 7 years). I for one think this is supremely cool. For those who think it's bullshit, to me its just a nice homage that .001% of the people who view that will pick up, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

  11. I've only been to the upper part (the palladium loft). It's very clean and you can go sit out on the large deck and have a drink between sets (probably not an option if you want to be up near the stage). Sound was good upstairs, I haven't heard the main hall sound. Apparently there are video screens in the main hall, there were flat panels in the loft part that I assume show the same thing. It's a pretty nice place, though it's located in a weird part of downtown. Nothing beats the Granada for as far as location for me.

  12. I've had multiple dreams of Wilco sitting around talking in my house.

Last night I have a very vivid memory of a dream where I was at the Oscars with my mom and she was chatting up Sally Field and Maria Menounos about their favorite childrens books.
