  1. I love this record. I love these guys. Nobody is writing or playing music like this. Musically they are way way advanced. And quit with the Paul Simon comparison -- there's about 100,000 South African records that also sound like Paul Simon. It a style of music.
  2. "High Times" is my favorite Westerberg song. There are so many...
  3. Mike Henderson - "The Edge of Night" I love leads on the low strings.
  4. Glenn's cutesy drumming is so irritating. I do like the spotlight on Pat.
  5. Jeff Tweedy - Guitar, Vocals Buddy Miller - Bass Mitch Marine - Drums David Hildago - Assorted guitars / instruments Mike Campbell - lead guitar Michelle Shocked - backing vocals
  6. Go listen to Brave Combo's version knucklehead. Then you'll see what I mean. Its a total ripoff.
  7. Brave Combo originally did that song/version. Dylan copied it almost exactly.
  8. Jeff Tweedy is so much better solo than he is with Wilco. Dump the band. For starters, I have two friends that play better guitar than Eric Clapton Technically Glenn Kotche is a decent drummer, but he'd be better served in USC's marching band. Flip a coin: Foo Fighters or Hansen. Los Lobos is American's greatest all-time band. The Stones were the world's greatest all-time band. I was pissed I went to a My Morning Jacket concert and forgot my pillow. Vampire Weekend may have released the greatest debut album in the history of Rock. Tommy Stinson's last solo record is bet
  9. Aerosmith had one really good song a while back but I can't think what it is right now.
  10. If you can't hear a difference between a CD and an iTunes downloaded song, you're not listening. Through my stereo its very noticeable. I always buy CDs and I then always download them lossless.
  11. HA. Paul Simon doesn't even sing on that song. You're Still Standing There - YES, Steve Earle / Lucinda Williams Firefly - Rhett Miller and Rachel Yamagata Blue Period - Pat Denizio and Belinda Carlise (Smithereens) Shaking Hands - Michelle Shocked and Jay Farrar Under and African Sky - Paul Simon and Linda Ronstadt Baby its You - Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe (The Burt Bacharach song) Matthew Sweet and Suzanna Hoffs Covers, Vol 1 and 2.
  12. When "I Want to Hold Your Hand / I Saw Her Standing There was released in January 1964, nobody had every heard anything like it. No even close. Nobody sounded like them, nobody looked like them and to date no band has had any where near the impact on pop music as the Beatles did back in the 60s. If they were a 10, the next artist might be a 5 or a 6. For that, they are simply greatness.
  13. That's Springsteen singing on Sea Of Heartbreak? Really? Who's producing this thing?
  14. That's Tweedy singing background on Long Black Veil? Really?
  15. Backstreets - Bruce Overs - Paul Simon For Emma - Bon Iver
  16. Dave Alvin's new record with The Guilty Women has a great version/cover of "Marie, Marie". Check it out. I love the Blasters, but they can't even touch Los Lobos musically. No band can.
  17. So what kind of speakers and stereo does he have?
  18. I'd argue they're the greatest American band ever.
  19. The good version of the song is called Not For The Season. The bad version is called Laminated Cat.
  20. BB King is a horribly overrated guitarist. Clapton might even be better than King.
  21. I should have known better. The chorus is sublime.
