  1. Not many details other than one fan who apparently is clueless as to what is involved in putting on large scale concerts, is pissed Trey was chosen, and got shut out of tickets. Deadheads can be such an insuferrable entitled bunch of self-righteous hippies. This event should only happen on my terms and conform to my view of what the Grateful Dead is, which is the only correct perspective! Bunch of fucking cry babies.
  2. 11/8/69, Dick's Picks 16, they tease Uncle John's for 2 minutes in the Dark Star. Very cool, same melody, but different tempo, more mariachi feel.
  3. Speaking of teases, just wondering if anyone else has caught the full band tease of New Speedway during the Smokestack from Bears Choice? Caught that just a few years back, had never noticed it before. The whole band slides right into it for a few bars, the music is pretty similar to Smokestack, so it's hardly noticeable. Pretty shocking discovery for me, it had been hiding there all those years.
  4. OK, heard it. Good catch. Comes on at about 3:14 - 3:20.
  5. That is one of those tribute shows where each act plays a song or two, then they have to set up the stage for the next band. Not a fun live concert experience, but ok to watch on tv. I've seen the Levon Helm and Greg Allman tributes. Don Was produced both of those as well. Some ok moments, some duds. Overall kind of ok. Won't come anywhere near the potential the Soldier Field shows hold. Haven't seen the Mavis Staples one yet, but reviews for that were not positive. With so many acts, there's not going to be much if any jamming, they've got to stick to a schedule. Would not be a fun show to b
  6. Say what you will about Hitler, but he nails the Dead ticket fiasco: http://youtu.be/QzdjkMh-cGA
  7. Scottsdale 7/3 seems to make High Sierra more likely, or at least some dates in California around that time.
  8. True. I guess I meant I don't care, so no one else should.
  9. Bob said in a recent interview that they're not the Grateful Dead anymore, so I guess that is just a promoter thing. At this point, who cares what they call it?
  10. Heard some rumblings about Wilco at High Sierra Music Fest. Would seem to make sense given other festivals they seem to be hitting, schedule looks open. Pretty jamband heavy, but a pretty cool festival. Hopefully they'll swing down to southern California during the trip out west.
  11. I hope they are getting paid a lot of money.I don't think I would go if I was paid and given unlimited nitrous balloon refills.
  12. Saw Dylan about 20 times between 95 - 2005. Great band, but started to lose interest when he stopped playing guitar, on top of his declining and inconsistent vocal abilities of which I am largely forgiving. When I finally saw Every Grain of Sand at my last show, and could check that off the list, I lost the urge to continue going. Wouldn't mind seeing him again, but can take it or leave it.
  13. You would think they could get some sponsorship and stream it for free like they do for the big festivals, but who knows. If they don't, people will melt even more.
  14. Peter Shapiro said simulcast in some article, mentioning his clubs would be open to view the shows. From that people are assuming simulcast to mean it will be shown in movie theaters, as has been done with past concert, or clubs. Sure sounds different from webcast or PPV. I had hopes that AXS TV would be showing the concerts, as they were the original presale vendor, and they show tons of concerts. But now that the presale was cancelled, that seems unlikely.
  15. Who wants to go to a movie theater 3 nights in a row, especially if you've got kids. BOOO!!!!
  16. The stage transformed into a log cabin, and the bobbing crowd into the waves on a lake. Afterwards, my friend said he saw the same thing. I think he's nuts, but don't have the guts to tell him. Who am I to disagree?
  17. Nice extended interview with Trey in Rolling Stone: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/trey-anastasio-on-dead-reunion-shows-i-dont-want-to-just-copy-jerry-20150217
  18. First time seeing Floyd at Soldier Field in 94. They opened with Astronomy Domine. Much to the surprise of the audience, they had put the stadium on top of a giant axis and began spinning it around in a circle. Some people thought it was just an effect from the video, but I know better...
  19. Been digging the new Jose Gonzalez album. Similar to his previous solo stuff, but I like the sound. Also heard some good songs by these bands that I want to investigate further. Can anyone point me in the right direction with: Sun Kill Moon, Woods, and Hiss Golden Messenger? Thanks
  20. It wasn't bad. My 6 year old daughter asked why Bob was singing a Jerry tune during Althea. Looks like I've got father of the year all wrapped up.
  21. Funny that the Rolling Stone page takes the quote totally out of context to mean the opposite. Can't blame him for not liking the first album, but he used the term bag, which confirms my feelings on him.
