  1. Here's another Phil show with Trey. Right after Trey was busted and sobered up. The whole thing smokes. https://archive.org/details/paf2007-10-20.Shaunpeker.Muletaper.88952.flac16 And here's another good one I was at. Vegas show that started after midnight. Things got a little foggy in the second set, but good time. With Medeski too. https://archive.org/details/pat2006-10-28.set1.aud.flac16 https://archive.org/details/phil2006-10-28.set2.aud.flac16
  2. The Cryptical from that Beacon show is pretty stunning. Trey also played Phil's 3 comeback shows in 98, which were incredible and essentially revitalized Phil and the Dead community. And he's sat in with Phil numerous other times, particularly during this joint tour they did together: http://youtu.be/Dt30SJZqgA4 But some people are just not gonna like him.
  3. It's billed as the Grateful Dead on ticketmaster. Seems like they try to avoid directly calling themselves the GD it in the official announcement, have it both ways, but I think they brought in Trixie Garcia to make the video announcement to kind of give the Garcia family blessing for using the GD moniker.
  4. Pretty clearly billed as the core four's last shows together. Also the first time since 95 they've been billed as the Grateful Dead. Given that, should bring people in from all over the country making a sell out likely, by scalpers at least even if the place isn't full. Seems the four decided it had to be Trey, and Phil wrote him a letter requesting him to do it. Love him or hate him, he's no Jerry clone and will bring a lot of needed energy to this group. http://youtu.be/Dv6Iw4Zm168
  5. There is potentially a lot of money on the table for a promoter if they can pull of 3 nights at Soldier Field. I'd imagine it would have to be a Clapton Crossroads type festival with all their surviving peers and bands that have been influenced by them. How about a rotating cast of guitarists to fill for Jerry, plus relics like Santana, CSN, Dylan, Winwood, Willie Nelson. Throw in a Hornsby and Branford. And next generation bands like Phish, Wilco, MMJ, Los Lobos. A last gasp for the 60's, or nail in the coffin. I'd still watch from my computer rather than attend, but let the madness begin.
  6. I guess Hornsby is in too. I've heard Trey and multiple rotating guitarists, including Haynes, Kimock, John. Hadn't heard Nels or Casal mentioned. Or Donna. The more the merrier I guess. Will be more of a Dead n' Friends type thing.
  7. Don't think it's a good idea to post full pictures of tickets. Have heard of people doing that, and the info, barcode, or something gets stolen and put on counterfeit tickets, rendering the original tickets useless.
  8. I'd be down with the return of Tomorrow Never Knows. They jammed the shit out of that.
  9. It's their Unbroken Chain. They'll play it in 20 years. Fans will go bananas. All part of Tweedy's plan.
  10. That they didn't take the record seriously enough is the best I can come up with. They just kind of got by on their musicianship and recording skills, but could've pushed further. Just can't quite figure out if he means they were overly confident, or insecure.
  11. There are a few prominent phish fans within Pitchfork's hallowed halls. I know Mike Reed, promoter of the Pitchfork Music fest is/was a huge phish guy. He gave me a few hundred phish tapes back in the day. A friend of a friend is the president, and is apparently a fan as well. Those guys all went to college and got high.
  12. Best thing about that original AGIB review is that it was written by a guy who is a huge Phish fan. I love Phish too, but you won't hear me criticizing extended guitar solos or the effects of drug use on music. Bring it on.
  13. Here's a cool show from the Capitol Theatre, 11/8/70. Performing Ripple 44 years before Wilco did there as well. https://archive.org/details/gd1970-11-08.aud.lee.pcrp.26975.shnf
  14. It is a very coherent and rational perspective, therefore don't expect any reply from the doubters, other than "I just think they're a tribute band."
  15. Billy has been pretty vocal about his distaste for JK and preference for Warren, or some other superior lead guitar player. Best guess is it would be the 4 plus Jeff and Warren, as things ended with "the Dead." Only saw that lineup once, and it was incredible. But I think they largely go as Bob goes, which will be the case for any lineup.
  16. Go back several months in this thread to where the person originally started calling the Allmans a tribute band. I made some pretty rational counterpoints, each of which were ignored, or the criteria for what a tribute band is magically changed. If you're gonna come in a thread about the Allman Brothers, full of Allman Brothers fans, and talk trash and not be willing to engage in an honest debate on the topic, then you're acting like a troll and deserve to be treated as such. You're discounting not only the opinions, but the experiences, of many people who have recently had amazing times at th
  17. I still stand by my original comment that you can eat a bag of dicks, fatso.
  18. I'll take that as a concession that you don't know what you're talking about. Thanks for finally accepting your ingorant misguided statements.
  19. They played new songs this year. You just don't know what you're talking about. But I'm sure you've got some convulted rationale for why those don't count. Keep on eatin them dicks.
  20. Oh, I get it. We're going by your definition of what a tribute band is. Eat a dick. Eat a whole fucking bag of them. Sorry.
  21. There are only two original members in Wilco now, right? Best tribute band ever.
