Have you seen this? The short lists are up for the Sony World photography awards. Heaps of lovely shots up there but here are a few that I liked.

It'd be cool to hear Mark Lanegan sing this song.

Impeach is a funny word. Derived from the words Epic Ham!

Parsley sucks. Why'd they have to make it so sharp and stick-in-your-teethy?
What have you got? Some stupid virus or something?

I have Marmite on toast most mornings and not everyone is a fan of that. You just gotta eat it right.

I don't think it's that they don't get along. I'm not sure they have ever even met. I think it's just Whiskeytown and Uncle Tupelo were sort of rivals back in the day, and Ryan is pretty well known for being wild and disrespectful towards other artists. Jeff was too back then, but to a much lesser extent. Their fan bases over lap since they play kind of similar music.
Uncle Tupelo broke up in 1994 the year Whiskeytown began.

If grillers really want something to drool over check out this large hardcover book called Seven Fires: Grilling the Argentine Way by Francis Mallman. Mostly stuff I'll never get the opportunity to cook, such as whole beast over a wood fire, but It's impressive to read about.

jaja Soul asylum isn't a number. Good band though.

To much sugar uggh that shit is the worst. I've been lamenting the rise of Sweet Thai Chili sauce as the most common chili based condiment available in these parts. I grew up with Indonesian food so we've always had Sambal olek or manis now its all sweet this sweet that.

Ribs, brisket and sausage served on paper with a few slices of bread; maybe some beans on the side. Sauce and utensils are optional, but mostly unnecessary.
Ahhh cool! Now I'm drooling. You eat the onions raw? And what do you do with the crackers?
-
Holy shit you're right!
Jajajaja And dudes wear those too!!?! I love over the top traditions.

This reminds me, I think the definition of Barbecue is slightly different in the USA to other English speaking countries. Or at least the usage of the word in New zealand. For some reason we don't call the food cooked at a bbq (event) barbecue. You can say "come over we are having a bbq tonight" or "Throw somne more steaks on the barbie" But not " I'm eating leftover barbecue for lunch" or "mm that's some tasty barbecue right there". I think South Africa and Argentina are the ones who really do it right though.

I don't understand a lot of those.
Neither do I. I'll file them under Stuff from US and A that'll have to look up. Like Tailgating. Here that just means following the car in front of you too closely. I do know what a Mum is though. Everyone has one. Proper Texas BBQ is something I'd like to experience for sure.

I know it was just released today, but Juana Molina's "Wed 21" has to be one of the best records I've heard all year.
She seems like a very interesting artist. I must investigate further. Did you catch her episode on NPRs Alt Latino?

Was what I wanted to say but then ya had to go and talk about Neko Case. So i can't really stand behind that.

U.S rock bands have no talent for melody.

You're right GE. Though It needs an injection of fresh blasphemy.
