  1. The mum substitute is pretty weird and distracting. I've never seen that done before. Anyhow I've only just started paying attention to Wilco in the press with this latest album and I've noticed, with Jeff at least, that he gives pretty good answers even when the questions are weak or standard fare. Mind you I guess he's been doing it for awhile now so why not I suppose.

  2. Some people seem to only like only certain aspects of the band. That's ok the church of Wilco is broad enough to accommodate all types though some arguments that will never be settled come to sound like a broken record over time.

  3. Friend, glad to speak. I offer help if you have a struggle with English of garbled style. It seem of fierce good sense to my ears. I just make struggle with the 'hodgepodge'. Is this kind of animal I am thinking?

    My goose has pimples at other news from Mr Jeff Tweedy: "We want to make pop music. I love pop music." He is of the Abba for sure with this principle at heart. This is fine thing to have in mind as sleep arrive! But you are still with rumble belly all waiting for saucy ribs and the molasses in your timing zone. Happy munch to you! Welfare!

    The Whole Love is coated in saucy ABBAness! Happy munch to you to Lotti!

  4. Yet despite his insistence that his lyrics not be taken at face value, he concedes that the achingly gentle Dawned On Me, from The Whole Love, is based on experience.

    The tear-jerker explores his 20-year love affair with his wife Sue. And it's a wise meditation on the practicalities of maintaining a marriage over two decades.Tweedy says: "I think an obsession with romantic love in a relationship causes a lot of pain.

    "I think the only real hope for any relationship, in terms of longevity, is to maintain the ability to fall in love with each other and not get too distracted when it's not too perfect. Me and my wife have been together for 20 years and I think it's pretty unrealistic to always be in love."

    Dawned on me isn't really a tear jerker is it? Sounds pretty up beat to me. Still, good to learn a little more about this song.

  5. In choosing which song to vote for is everybody just picking their favourite song of these 8 choices? Or is there something more to being a closing song on an album. Are any of these songs favourites from their respective albums?

    Wat i rekon;

    Reservations, On and on and on, In a future age and Everlasting everything are all pretty similar songs in that they seem like they were written as album closers and they all have a similar emotional tone. One sunday morning also seems a natural choice for an album ender. I can't really picture it anywhere else on the record. The late greats seems like the last song you would put last on a record, I believe it works as an album closer only because of the preceding noise. Great song though the album would still be fine without it. Dreamer...I like it and it's certainly not a predictable way to go out. Too far apart is my favourite track on A.M so I voted for that.

  6. Been listening to Rick Steves-Travel with Rick Steves who does a enjoyable podcast with interviews from people around the world.

    Interesting episodes:

    Running a Summer Crepe Stand in France; Washington DC Insider; National Parks in the USA,

    Building the Berlin Wall; The Mongol Rally; The Darwinian Tourist

    Off the Grid in Mexico; Baltic Cities; Paul Theroux's Dark Star Safari

    Be careful it will make you want to travel.
