  1.

I saw them at Roseland on the release date of Summerteeth.

    March 9, 1999.

it was a silly industry party for the premiere issue of Forbes' Celebrity 100 issue. lots of fancy food, media types, and local celebrities. chris isaak was the headliner. I can't remember now how I got on the list, but I dragged my neighbor at the time to it. they were giving away copies of Summerteeth, but ran out... but they started a mailing list... and by week's end they actually mailed us copies. wish I could add to the non setlist on wilcobase, but I can't. I do remember falling in love with them.

I knew of uncle tupelo... but didn't own any. was already a big fan of Trace by then... my friend and I joke about this being when I was turned!

I bought being there the next day and by the time they played irving plaza the next month, I was already addicted.

  2. it's already saturday in sydney.

an expression I'm going to use a lot today, on the first really glorious day of Spring here in NYC, to start my weekend about, well, about two hours ago, actually.

excited about getting up early tomorrow with a pot of coffee and some headphones up really loud.

  3. yes. now I can finally complete my IATTBYH diorama. I'll use my oscar goldman action figure to play tony margherita, david fricke will be played by my planet of the apes' cornelius, and I'll put a cigarette in chewbacca's mouth for jay.

  4. hotel northampton and autumn inn already both sold out that weekend. those were both the places I was told were non-chain in town. any suggestions would be great. may do a camping thing, but want a reservation.

  5. this was such a great show. does anyone have a recording?

apologies if this is on the wrong board.

um, but if anybody does have a recording of this upcoming show, I too would love to hear it.

  6. this is looking to be a highlight of the summer for me.

so I'm looking for any help or advice that makes it so.

    stories?

    pics?

    places to stay?

    things to do and eat?

the park that day- picnic table rentals?

chance of a VC picnic? kickball game?

    venue vibe?

and any thoughts of what you would do on the Sunday night if you were me and going to Hammerstein show on Monday? stay local and get up early? or power it on back home to nyc in the middle of the night?

    :dancing

  7. I'll dream about this tonight.... about waking up ten minutes late or looking at clock and seeing that its 10:38 and realizing that I magically forgot about it.

  8. yeah my friends and I showed up at Pines at like 12 in the afternoon. We just hung around drank Sunny D and watched Jeff wrestle with an inflatable raft for a bit. Good times...

so you get inside the venue that early? or just the park?

ok. this weekend can't get here soon enough. I read up the venue's site about renting a picnic table. I'm thinking about doing that for a day. it'd be fun to grill some stuff and throw a frisbee around before the show. I love a tailgate.

    picnic tables

    mmm. sunny d.

  9. ...wow. I'm so excited about the idea of doing a Pines and Hammerstein back to back trip.

what can folks tell about the vibe of the Pines venue? places to stay? are we having a picnic?
