  1. I think he was simply attempting to explain why the old guard was executed, not that he agreed with it. Wait, did you just allow a personal experience into the discussion? Hypocrite.
  2. My life is filled with doubt, and I am willing to question every cherished belief I may have. If say tomorrow, someone released the results of a study that proved evolution untrue, with real demonstrable, repeatable scientific facts to back it up, I would change my mind. It is religion that paints the world in black and white, right and wrong, good or bad. But, I never said that. I have repeatedly stated that I not find ALL religious folks dangerous.
  3. A. Do we have any demonstrable, testable, empirical proof of gods existence
  4. I can respect and or love a person without respecting some of their beliefs
  5. Let me ask you a question, when was the last time someone was criticized for not respecting another person
  6. But what if the word of god is to kill? Sure, I disagree with people I admire all the time, but that is the beauty of having a non-dogmatic, scientific or more empirical outlook on life. Most religions do not take too kindly to change, and those changes often come or came with much bloodshed. Whereas, toppling one scientific hypothesis in favor of another very rarely, if ever, brings with it calls for war and/or the spilling of blood. I appreciate the way in which you have chosen to express your religion, sincerely, my issue is not with thoughtful believers such as yourself, but wit
  7. Why leave such an important matter, existence, open to interpretation? Hell, as a parent, I don
  8. If the Koran states that it is indeed ok to punish or even kill a non-believer, is it not the responsibility of the individual to do as God or Allah declares? Who is an individual to question and/or disobey the word of God if one truly believes in him or her or it

  10. What is an individual, a person of true Muslim faith to do if the Koran is essentially telling them it is acceptable to bring harm to non-believers, or those who
  11. I would argue that it does in a time of global Jihad
  12. True, but when you put them in a context having to do with issues we are now involved with globally, they do resonate with a certain degree of menace. Example: IV.76: Those who believe fight in the cause of God. Taken at face value, the preceding passage sounds innocuous enough. However, in our current context, it is essentially saying that god is on your side against the infidels, (non-Muslims, i.e.
  13. But the thing is, like the bible, it, the Koran, contains violent passages, and does call upon followers to do harm to non-believers. XVI.8: It may be that your Lord will have mercy on you, and if you (again return to disobedience) We too will return (to punishment), and We have made hell a prison for the unbelievers. II.161: Surely those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers, these it is on whom is the curse of Allah and the angels and men all; IX. 5-6: Kill those who join other gods with God wherever you may find them. IV.76: Those who believe fight in the cause o
  14. I wholeheartedly agree it is not all Muslims, unfortunately, it appears as though many of the ones who are in a position to dole out the punishment do feel that way
  15. Practically speaking, I agree with this, principally however, I think the Muslims need to chill the fuck out. I don
