  1. Sweet, so actually advocating the use of nuclear weapons against civilians is even better than saying it, but not really meaning it? What an improvement. Feel free to call bullshit, but before you do, why don’t you like, read the article first? Stewart is actually nothing like Savage, who, as I’ve already pointed out repeatedly, shares some of the very same views as both the Klan and the skinhead movement - both of which, like Savage, are known for their quirky humor. Yes, in fact it is worse, much worse - you would be wise to read Sullivan, you might actually gain something from it. Gle
  2. The conservative movement digs deep and comes up with yet another winner to represent the cause: http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2009/09/miss-california-wows-conservatives.html
  3. Have you checked out this guy’s shtick – it’s fooking hirarious: www.metacafe.com/watch/178650/rare_video_of_hitler/
  4. The New Yorker recently published a profile on Savage – one in which he participated. He didn’t actually come out and say it, but he inferred that he, himself, doesn’t actually believe everything that comes out of his mouth. Which, taken at face value, isn’t such a bad thing, well, not, that is, until you start to think through the implications of what he saying. Which is, he thinks so little of his listeners, that he willingly lies to them, misrepresents facts, basically has so little respect for them, that he has no qualms about filling their heads full of make believe bullshit – I invite yo
  5. Yes, in fact it is. But then, that is why I’m not a democrat – they lack backbone.
  6. Exactly. Thank you! Jacob - As a self-described Christian, I am genuinely surprised that you find the hate-filled rhetoric of Michael Savage entertaining – honest to Christ. But then, it should come as no surprise, as a great many so-called Christians enjoy his unique brand of entertaining hate-speech.
  7. On the aggregate, the media is neither liberal nor conservative. And since when have David Letterman, Jay Leno, Oprah, and the cast of the View been considered part of the media establishment? Since you’re casting so wide a net, why don’t we throw Big Bird, Sylvester Stallone, Ralph Macchio, and because you’re a big Pixar fan, let's throw Buzz Lightyear in there as well. When I reference the media, I have print and television journalism in mind – not celebrities and late night TV hosts, though your definition may differ. Where, I wonder, was the liberal media during Bush’s term in office? I
  8. What we have here, is a failure to extrapolate. As there is another, even more insidious form of bias percolating in the dark underbelly of our society, and like a cancer, it is destroying this country from within - I refer, of course, to Liberal Media Bias. Yes, Liberal Media Bias. You’ve seen it, it’s everywhere, and it’s keeping our rich white brothers and sisters down. For example, Liberal Media Bias is responsible for destroying the career of Sarah Palin, one of the conservative movements brightest, a beacon on the hill, she who shone with the light of a bajillion stars. Oh my brothers
  9. I’m not making any claims, at least not in relation to our discussion. You, however, have made many claims over the past few months, most if not all of which, quite predictably, have not come to pass - why? Because they were based almost entirely on wild speculation. I continue to reference the Amero because it was a topic you defended vociferously, even after it was discredited. As for quarantines, you also mischaracterized them as being nefarious, you also mention martial law, when, in fact, quarantines are one of the most effective, reliable methods by which to slow the spread of disease. Y
  10. First - The Newsweek article Limbaugh is completely mischaracterizing relates to the book NurtureShock, which, if Rush, actually read it, or even had the first fucking clue as to what the article is about, he wouldn’t have said what he said. Whether his mischaracterization of the article was intentional or not, I do not know, but given his record of lying, I’m no longer willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I’m reading the book, and I’ll go into detail when I’ve completed it - though I can say I’ve read the section on racial attitudes as they relate to children, and there is nothing co
  11. Since your reply is disproportionaly more aggressive than my own, in which I was trying to be half way fair, I’m just going to take the gloves off and tell it like it is - you’re a total fucking moron - really, it‘s true. The same moron who, shortly after the swine flu outbreak, started ranting about quarantines and government crack downs, the impending switch to the Amero, and a dozen or so other things, all of which, as was pointed out to you, were works of fiction. The same moron who derided someone for pointing out that, no, swine flu cannot actually be contracted by eating pork - yes, tha
  12. Are you familiar with the full story? Limbaugh’s rant was sparked by a story regarding a fight on a school bus, which, Limbaugh and his ilk turned into a racial incident, an example of what happens to white people in “Obama’s America.” If you don’t find that repulsive, and equally as insane, well, I can’t help you. What the fuck a fight on a school bus has to do with Obama and his vision for America, well, I’ll never know, you’ll have to ask a crazed asshole like Limbaugh for the answer to that one. What do you think Limbaugh's respone would have been if Bush were still in office? McCain? Do
  13. Here’s the thing, my motherboard can process more than one subject at a time - quite a few actually, some of them trivial, others, requiring a bit more firepower. I would imagine this is true of most folks on this board. Don’t assume I (we) haven’t already thought about, digested and drawn my (our) own conclusions regarding the subjects you choose to post about. At the rate at which you’re going, you’re going to burn out before long, I know this, because I was once like you (yes, believe it or not, I’ve mellowed since my twenties). Just because a subject is not intimately tied to the N.W.O
  14. Thank you for saving me from myself – without your help and guidance, I’d probably still be wallowing in my own piss-soaked ignorance.
  15. From Andrew Sullivan: Limbaugh will enjoy the scorn. But he's a disgusting opportunist and racist. And his acceptability - indeed total dominance - on the right is one reason decent people will steer clear of the GOP for the foreseeable future. There is no nuance or doubt here. This is a man who wants a race war. Until the GOP throws him out, they deserve oblivion. He's a racist through and through, and if no one on the right stands up to this, they are complicit: Link with the audio that prompted Andrew's post - http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/09/a-vile-racebaite
  16. All this studied reasonableness is not winning you any favors, and it’s not making your ass look any smaller either. Edit: But seriously, I’m not referring to coverage of a miracle recovery, for that, you’d probably have to wait up until three o’clock in the morning, and the miracle cure would come by way of Kevin Trudeau and his patented Recession Busting Colon Cream®. I was referring to the reports that bend over backwards to suck dry the marrow from even the most modest signs of recovery. Given that most news outlets are owned by even larger corporations, corporations whose main intere
  17. Yep. While watching with the wife, I commented that every time they showed him, that guy who used to be an intern on The Office flashed through my brain. (quickly exists sports related thread)
  18. Perhaps it’s just my perception, but every time the market is up for the day, many news outlets, including CNN, appear to fall over themselves in a rush to ask, “Is the recession over?” And then they go on to report a story about how some guy, let’s call him Larry, just sold his house, and so did his friend, let’s call him Steve, and how, “is this a sign that the housing market is making a recovery?” with all the depth and skepticism of a local interest story about a boy, his pet turtle, and the unique, almost esp-like bond they share. I’m exaggerating of course, which, I am want to do.
  19. My 401k has rebounded to “pre-recession” numbers, so in a sense, it has remained largely stagnant for the past year or two. Further, as a direct result of the recession, we had to take a loan out against it, and I’ve had to reduce my contribution to 1%. What I find frustrating is the shallowness with which most news outlets report upon the overall health of the economy. They often overemphasize slight, temporary up-ticks, while ignoring or downplaying negative indicators – and given that they failed to take notice or heed the warnings of the admittedly few economists that were insightful enoug
  20. I think he’s saying that, for the majority of middle to low income folks hit hard by the recession, the purported economic turnaround amounts to little more than a very gradual curve, rather than a 3-point, 90 degree turn.
  21. In which Greenwald makes some excellent points regarding charges that the right has taken a turn for the crazier, when, in fact, the opposite may be true, they’ve been a bit nutty all along. Is the Right's attack on Obama's legitimacy new or unprecedented? Several people objected in comments, emails and other places to my argument yesterday that what Rep. Joe Wilson did -- though dumb and juvenile -- was hardly some grave threat to the Republic or even a substantial deviation from standard right-wing political behavior. Some argued that Obama's race has caused the Right's hostility towar
  22. futureage1 - I agree with much of what you’ve written, and I would add that I have serious concerns regarding the way in which Obama has handled Gitmo. Glenn Greenwald has written about it extensively and often. He has remained a consistent critic of both Bush and Obama’s policies – his column in invaluable. http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/ Where you lose me, entirely, is when you start in with the N.W.O nonsense. It's conspiracy fodder, and only serves to undermine much of what you have to share.
  23. He posted a long, though important (or at least I think) article, why are you making this into such a big deal?
