  1. 1) Dan Auerbach - Metro - Blew away my expectations of the show. Hacienda opened and killed.

    2) Avett Brothers - House of Blues - hung with some fellow VCers :ninja great energy and great set despite girls screaming like they were seeing the Beatles in the 60's. Did lack some banjo though. :hmm

    3) The Evening Rig - Turf Club - one of the few roadtrips I took this year. Still confused as to why these guys aren't a bigger deal outside of MN.

    4) Jason Isbell/Justin Townes Earle - Double Door - JTE's voice can't be topped and Jason has truly grown into a lead man.

    5) Wilco - UIC - Went last minute after not having seen Wilco in a few years. Hate large venues but the boys blew me away. Sound wasn't great but the band has truly translated from small club to arena band. Not an easy thing to do. Glenn is a monster on drums.

this is a pretty cool/chill record :music

Good description...nothing amazing jumped out at me yet but a nice album to listen to. Need to give it some more spins. I've liked the bulk of what Dangermouse has done with the rock world. Attack and Release alone puts him on a pedestal.

  4. the place was a dump and definitely deteriorated near the end but some extremely memorable shows. Jeff played solo fairly regularly on off nights to pay the rent. My favorite shows were a Jayhawks "secret" show, Golden Smog on New Years Eve and that last Wilco show. The place was packed and the band was very loose.

There is a great recording of that show if you don't already have it.

  5. After two full listens.... Yeah, I think I love this record too. It sounds like E's On The Beach. The melodies might not instantly fit the lyrics as well as they do on Electro Shock Blues, but the lyrics on this one are great.

Agreed... I had to make some tough calls to remove some stuff from my ipod to fit this one on. Can't drive around without it.

  6. I really miss Wilco. I can't wait for the reunion shows.

Based on what I heard Jeff said at Second City, I don't see any possibility of these guys ever getting back together. Possibly the occasional tour with Golden Smog but Wilco is no more.
