  1. One genre hopper and certified Guitar God is Jeff Beck. Jack's prowess on the guitar got him recognized a few years back. Seems Beck liked what he heard and felt The Stripes would be perfect to cover some Yardbirds songs at a show in England. (Venue??????) I'm sure is was awkward, raw and contained many moments of shredding glory. Although he can't touch Beck's softer side, he certainly is able to capture SOME of his ferociousness. That's what I like most about JW - Raw power w/ good melodies. if I want percision, i'll listen to S. Vai or EVH.
  2. let's move on back to Meg. She is lacking in most drumming skills. Her beats are primal to say the least and her timing, inconsistent. She can't sing well and she is kinda plain looking. She chain-smokes and is way too quiet. She is my most favorite drummer and half the reason the White Stripes are the most exciting band around.
  3. Cyberspace High-Five to that!!!!
  4. Thanks for the info. That is an impressive set-list. Looking forward to ACL.
  5. My car is where I really test cds out. SBS is #1 on my 12 disc changer. I might get to song 2 or 3 on CD #2, but then i go back to SBS again. CD 11 and 12 don't stand a chance.
  6. Do tell.............how should Tweedy have delivered it?
  7. Thanks to everyone for the advice!! PRRRRRRRFECT!
  8. Prince called me and said that ya'll should take this discussion over to the "Bands With Only One Good Album" thread, where it belongs.
  9. This one goes out to all the nay-sayers. "What Light" If you feel like singing a song And you want other people to sing along Just sing what you feel Don't let anyone say it's wrong And if you're trying to paint a picture But you're not sure which colors belong Just paint what you see Don't let anyone say it's wrong And if you're strung out like a kite Or stung awake in the night It's alright to be frightened When there's a light (what light) There's a light (one light) There's a light (white light) Inside of you If you think you might need somebody To pick you up when you dr
  10. what do you think are the best advantages for going with the Expression II rather than the Debut III? ...............other than getting one more I, of course.
  11. I'm a nurse. 15 yrs as an assistant for orthopaedic surgeon. As a male, I have no big cans - sorry. I agree with above!!! It sounds as if it is in the middle of the back of your forearm (ulna bone). if so, make a fist and turn your hand back and forth (as if turning a door knob). It might hurt a little due to the inflamation, but if it's a lot of pain, it could be fractured. either way, the only way to really know if it's broken is to get an x-ray. hope this helps. you can certainly message me if you wish.
  12. This new idea of giving away his CD is brilliant and I agree - loss of CD sales from one album wouldn't hurt a business, but the CONCEPT could if other artists get on that wagon. Prince has always been apart from the pack. I caught him Memorial Day '06 in a very small club in Vegas. Seems he was trying to sink a deal with The Rio for his current weekend show set-up and played Sat/Sun at the Empire Ballroom. Tickets were a steep $312.10 each and well worth it. Set-list The Show (11:30pm - 2am) Middle Eastern instrumental intro Stay With Me Baby Every Little Step Milk & Honey I Nev
  13. What I meant was - i know the turntable hooks up directly to the computer via USB and can be used without a receiver, unlike other turntables. but can it also connect to a reciever or amp the old fashioned way? seems like i read somewhere that these things can also connect to the aux input on a receiver without a grounding wire if your new reciever did not have phono inputs. sorry for the confusion.
  14. I'm thinking about getting one. can you connect via USB to computer AND analog to amp simultaneously with that turntable? did software come with it and if so, do you like it?
  15. Seems like a lot of $$$$, unless you take into consideration the x-ray charge, x-ray technician salary, salary of PA, tech or Nurse who put the cast on (assumption), casting materials and ultimately the liability insurance in case of complication or deformity. Oh, let's not forget the Porsche 911 turbo. all kidding aside, I hope things work out for the best and your son gets a good result.

  17. Good call Doug!!! Re-issue of Duet For Guitars #2 in stores now. I recently got a demo cassette that pre-dates #2. maybe Duet For Guitars #1?
  18. No, I don't think Jeff Tweedy is f*cking with us. This guy's just coming to terms with own humanity and Either Way shows that no matter what happens, he's ready to deal with it. A "new beginning" song logically belongs at the beginning. I'm sure the track sequence is purposeful and sincere because the songs are simply too good for it not to be. I like that he is accepting responsibility for past actions and actually sounds inspiring, rather than preachy.
  19. ....I didn't really care for originally and recently revisited. after hearing it again yesterday, I wonder..............WHAT THE HELL WAS WRONG WITH ME????????
