all of politics is a double standard. welcome to the world. some people in politics are just a lot more dangerous and reptilian than others.
-
"yes" is the correct answer. anyone is apparently "allowed" to do or say whatever they want in politics. if you think obama gives mccain and his "camp" a run for their money when it comes to distortion, manipulation, dirty fighting, and outright lying, you're not paying attention to what's going on out there, in this crucial year of all years. are you paying attention? no, you're not paying attention.

some (ignorant) people do worry about it, which is why his republican adversaries love to keep it going -- fearmongering is all it is.

i don't know who started what, and you probably don't either, but what we're left with is: the palin rumors were stopped cold within a day or two. the obama rumors have continued for months and months, and months. i'd say one side has a much more valid grievance than the other. have some perspective.

this is very beautiful. (had to look it up, i've never heard them.) the past week has been very hard; it must have hit hardest in the night, because this morning my own heart was so heavy that i couldn't get up. for a long time. but obviously i finally did, to find this beautiful thing. what a great reward, and to keep. thank you so much for posting it. -

someone had a sign last night that msnbc focused on for about one second, and i can't remember the exact verb in the middle but otherwise it went something like this: SARAH PALIN WILL ATTACK THE TERRORISTS! (ASK OBAMA!) -
IF civilization broke down and there was no other way to eat meat, people who want or need meat would learn to hunt in a hurry.

well this does it. bobbob for president!

actually, as of six years ago, he does live in a place where he could raise his own livestock. but then he wouldn't have enough reason to use his gun collection, i reckon.
-
ah ha -- just what i've been trying not to suspect for twenty years.

yes, i followed a rather short internet trail to it -- there it was, for all the world to see if people would just look -- in march of '03, during the run-up to the invasion. i was really shocked by this document and the history leading up to it, and barely slept for weeks. not to be melodramatic but only realistic: life was never the same after that.

must be a swift little sleeper.

the husband of a friend of mine has been an avid hunter and gun lover all his life. she explains to me that at the core of his hunting desire is "self-reliance." does that make sense to anyone?

i'm going to have to borrow that idea. the moose in my state are so damn scary. it's amazing hollywood isn't on to them yet and making horror films featuring them. maybe then they'll make moose hunting legal all year round here so we can all be protected from these violent, hideous creatures.

the project for the new american century is one of the scariest aspects of the whole neocon movement. their "rebuilding america's defenses" is a must-read.

funny! i had to look up her age just now and was shocked to find she is younger than i am. i thought she was about ten years older, probably because of all that sparkling and accessorizing, which i am not into, at all. there's still a lot of leftover hippie here in my house. $313,000 is obscene. i hope michelle obama didn't spend that much. -

olbermann is a deeply irritated and irritating blowhard who is very intelligent, and occasionally shows that with stream-of-consciousness tirades that have plenty of usually-unspoken-by-media insights into our politics and culture. o'reilly is a deeply disturbed and disturbing blowhard, and that's about all i can get out of the guy. -
i think this is a great idea for a thread! i am for the death penalty, under very limited circumstances. i now think "political correctness" has gone too far and to a certain extent muddied freedom of speech. i think many of the democrats in washington today have no guts and give up their real values to get elected or to get funded. i think many of the democrats in washington today, because they lack the courage of their original convictions, act like victims too often. i am an independent, not a democrat, but since i vote democratic way more often than not, i addressed where i differ from

john kerry was unable to communicate his ideas, and how he would carry them out, effectively to the american people. i think that's a substantial problem, call it what you will.
-
or one could even call it outright lying, because he has made his long-term warmongering vision very clear for a very long time. the reaction to his "100 years in iraq" gave him a scare.
-
interesting, isn't it? lately it seems the poisonous bush is trying to steal whatever thunder obama has (or more likely sully him) by agreeing with him on stuff -- more than he says out loud about agreements with mccain.
-
i agree with you on this, bobbob. he was everything you say. it was painful to vote for him.

de nada.
