  1. I'm still really mad about this presale. Now that I'm thinking about it, I may not even bother for the regular sale. $100? Could it possibly be worth it? Wilco and Neil Young was almost worth it and I was right up front. My husband goes every year to the Allman Bros. Beacon run for $115, its worth it because it is such a small venue and security doesn't get uptight about people moving around. He usually makes it up front for part of it. But that much money for a band whose best attribute is dead? In crappy seats at venues that don't sound very good? I don't know.

So does this mean I've gotten old and crabby, or have I matured and become discerning?

  2. I declined.

The only band I'd pay a hundred bucks for MUST have Jerry Garcia playing guitar.

Same here. When I finally got in after 2 hours of waiting, all they offered was the furthest opposite the stage. forget it.

That was the most poorly managed thing I have ever seen.

  3. This is excellent news. My first thought though was that some of the charm of that album is the analog sampling. I hope that won't be lost. They're pretty smart guys though, they know what they are doing.

  4. I live in CT and only know a few folks who have heard of Wilco and even fewer who like them. We have local friends who like them alot and go to concerts with us, but he is Concert Talker, so that kills my buzz.

I have avid music fan friends who I grew up with who have only heard of Wilco through me. I think it is safe to say that my husband would not have heard of them if not for me, but he found the magic listening on his ipod on a plane. In fact, he wrote me a long loving email about it.

Strangely though, when I go to concerts nearby, which I have been lucky enough to do, the venue is filled with people who all seem as though they would be lovely people to be friends with. I just don't know any of them personally.

So needless to say, when I travel to the west coast or to Ireland to see them, my friends worry about me a little.

  5. If I was to try and decide which Wilco record to turn a friend on to I would probably suggest to my beer drinking friends AM, and to my my potheaded friends I would say try Summerteeth.

    I'll play.

Being There for my coke fiend friends-they'll need endurance.

YHF for my music snob friends.

AGIB for my acid loving friends.

    KT for my cool friends.

SBS for my chardonnay sipping friends.

  6. I went a couple of years ago. It was amazing, one of my best trips ever. We did a few days outside of San Ignacio in the Mountain Pine ridge area. We stayed on a river and it was amazing. Went to Caracol-amazing mayan ruins and it is easy to get over to Tikal in Guatamala if you are based near San Ignacio. We also did some canoeing in a cave and hiking around the area of our hotel.

Then for a few days we went to the beach at Placencia. It also was amazing-did some snorkeling. Sat our asses on the beach. It is a nice, smallish beach town. lots of hotel and restaurant options.

I have not been to to Ambergris, although friends have and loved it. It is were most of the tourism is.

The nationally certified tour guides are very well trained. I would highly recommend getting one if you are going to see any ruins. I'm not usually big on getting a guide for things, but they made the experience of seeing the ruins very full. Not only are they trained in history, but are naturalists and can point out wildlife you would never see on your own. Your hotel can help you get a good one.

I could go on and on. PM me if you want more info.

    Have a great time-report back.
