  1. I think the key problem with Jay leaving the band has more to do with him stepping in as engineer on YHF than anything. He freely admits that the band members were a bit resentful of him taking too much control. The problem is this, how did that door get opened to allow him to do so?

It's a common problem with Wilco in earlier years that communication was beyond poor. Ignoring problems was easier than confronting them head on to resolve them before they became bigger problems. If someone were to have pulled Jay aside before the recording of YHF and said that he can't engineer the album as well as write on it and perform on it, he may still even be in the band. But that's not the case and now we're where we're at.

Well put. I've always thought these two factors were paramount in band dynamics going south in every which way except where it mattered ......on stage in front of thousands...

  2. Jay's an easy target, but I just have a gut feeling that Jay has SOMETHING that's valid. It seems I remember hearing/reading years ago that he didn't feel he was compensated fully for all his work in Wilco. Jay's pride, and belief that he could earn money on his own, probably is the reason he never got serious about getting money from Jeff/Wilco.

Obviously, the hip surgery has made Jay desparate. But I don't think Jay would drop this big of a bomb without having actual facts to back his claim.

my thoughts......somewhat......danm, i'm really bummed by this.

  3. Jamie Moyer still makes his home in Seattle.........the dumbest move of the former M's GM Bavasi ever made was giving up Moyer.

I've talked to him several times .....mostly about 2005 Bordeaux wine special orders he has made with us. Wilco fan?? doesn't suprise me!!!! :dancing

Jamie, if you log on here.........I still have lots 2005 Mouton and select others hangin' around!!!

Studio version of Panthers is prolly my least favorite track / biggest let down, and I really love the solo acoustical rendition of it, too. With proper love, TLC and nuturing, that song could have been a massively great track on an album. But such is life.

    Agreed.

  5. Bhickman,

Please put me down to help Jay defray costs of the surgery......

and yes, "Apologize.." is the best overall effort from Jay since "Palace"

I would totally go to a show that had Edward Burch, Leroy Bach, Ken Coomer, etc.

It would sell out the Tractor here in Seattle......easily.

  6. -The Doors -"The Doors" best debut album ever......although I like "Morrison Hotel" better.

-The Minutemen-"Three Way Tie (For Last)- D. Boon was on his way with this one.......yet no one considers it classic.

-Ramones -"TO Tough To Die" their last great record......a Dee Dee penned record that kicked ass

It all how YOU take it I guess......

  7. Once in awhile .......you have bands redoing whole records...........I remember one band re-doining

the Ramones-"Plesant Dreams " record.....to great effect (I forget who now.....)

    My one choice right now........

Wilco to re-do.........The Moody Blues-- "Long Distance Voyager"
