Anyone catch it?
I love that series!
I think I've seen maybe 7 or 8 different episodes. Ahmet (the guy who ran Atlantic Records) was another really interesting one.
So cool.
But I do think that Bob Newhart is my favorite.

Oh and to finish they did in one encore a cover of Sun Ra (something about nuclear bombs) I'd love to hear this again so if anyone knows which song I'm taking about, point me to the right direction please.
Nuclear War
It's a motherfucker
I haven't heard the YLT version of this, but I would love to!

how'd it go?
any VCers show (after your relentless self-promotion!)?
Went pretty well. Was a little uncomfortablw with the whole microphone thing, after so long. (I adjusted, though.)
And, as far as I know, there were no VCers there. Nobody who let me know, at least.

Seriously, all I really know of his work are: Nilsson Schmilsson and Son Of Schmilsson, but judging by those two albums alone (and the critical responses to his other albums) why are we not talking about him in the same sentences as much bigger names?
He had a couple of hits. Yeah, not as many as some other bands, but... there are a lot of other bands that had fewer. (Pixies, although in a different time.) He had a 4-octave range(!?!?!), wrote great melodies, and had an oddball sense of humor that crept in more than just occasionally. It's got to be that last bit that some find distasteful. Still... I've only just started getting into him and cannot believe that it took me this long.
You're breaking my heart
You're tearing it apart
So fuck you
So pretty it makes me laugh.

The Iron Giant
Yeah, it's a kids' movie, but in the same way as The Nightmare Before Christmas. That is to say, it's not with a smile and a wink, but it truly works on an adult level.
Directed by Brad Bird (Ratatoullie, The Incredibles) who, for my money, is one of the best directors working today, period. Oh, and it's traditional -- not computer -- animation. A really great movie.

Could I catch the moon
On a big-wheeled wagon?

I've been lukewarm about everything since Out Of Time.
I must be old.

After the breakup of my band's original lineup, I think I got one of these coming out of me soon. Just gotta get some folks, money, and a studio together. So, "soon" would be relative.
Now, back to it:
Daniel Johnston - Songs Of Pain
is pretty amazing.

I'm all lost in the supermarket
I can no longer shop happily
I came in here for that special offer
A guaranteed personality
I wasnt born so much as I fell out
Nobody seemed to notice me
We had a hedge back home in the suburbs
Over which I never could see
I heard the people who lived on the ceiling
Scream and fight most scarily
Hearing that noise was my first ever feeling
Thats how its been all around me
Chorus
I'm all tuned in, I see all the programmes
I save coupons from packets of tea
I've got my giant hit discoteque album
I empty a bottle and I feel a bit free
The kids in the halls and the pipes in the walls
Make me noises for company
Long distance callers make long distance calls
And the silence makes me lonely
Chorus
And its not here
It disappears
Im all lost
