  1. The song that has your favorite performance on each instrument. Let's keep this to the pop/rock idiom, though.

    Me?

Drums: "Crosstown Traffic" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Bass: "The Good Thing" by Talking Heads

Guitar: "Pablo & Andrea" by Yo La Tengo

Keys: "Surrender To The Rhythm" by Brinsley Schwarz

Vocals: "This Heart Of Mine" by Otis Redding

Pedal Steel: "Christine's Song (Devil In Disguise)" by The Flying Burrito Brothers

Feel free to add any others that you don't see here, or eliminate ones that you do see.

(oh, and I did steal this idea from another forum that I post in.)

  2. In general, my favorites tend to be the leat-played Beatles tracks (not that there is such a thing, but, for now...):

    Hey Bulldog

    It's All Too Much

    I'm Only Sleeping

    Two Of Us

    She Said, She Said

    I've Just Seen A Face

You've Really Got a Hold On Me

Everybody's Got Something To Hide (Except For Me & My Monkey)

    so, there's a few

  3. Sure....I agree completely. Pesonally ( just my opinion I'm not trying to preach or lay my views on anyone) I think there has to be some higher power....something. I don't know that I believe in a guy with a white robe and a flowing beard, but I don't think all of "this" is a cosmic accident. What all that is I'm not sure. Religion is just fine and dandy with me...its how people twist and turn it to their own devices that pisses me off...you know "our God is better than your God" etc, etc

    Yes.

    Agreed.

    On all counts.

But we are entering dangerous territory here.

    Sorry.

  4. Yes, I am reading that currently, also have read Brief History of Time.....good stuff. Like I said before that stuff is endlessly amazing to me....the one I'm trying to wrap my mind around is the whole big bang theory. I get that the universe exploded from a singular point and is expanding etc, etc...what I'm wondering is OK what was there before the big bang?...I can't comprehend the concept of everything ( i.e. the universe) begining from "nothing" what kicked that off?..... Jeeeeeeeeez

Not to get religious on you, but I think that's where the concept of a god comes in. Whatever that may be for you.

  5. Yep, I don't know how it is for others but if I'm trying to sleep and start thinking about stuff like that it's like forget it, I'm up for hours....trying to grasp concepts like the size of the universe and such. And I don't even use drugs or drink anymore :stunned

Have you read A Brief History Of Time? It's stunning. Takes about 30 minutes to read each page, just because you're trying to wrap your mind around it all. Highly recommended for non-scientist physics geeks.

  6. Guinness - Obvious, maybe, but still true. And make sure you get it at a place that KNOWS how to our it correctly!)

St. Bernardus Abt 12 - The first time I tried this, I was shocked at how much was going on! A wonderful Belgian trappist ale. Oh, and it's more than 10% alcohol content assures that it's a sipping beer.

Old Peculiar - Peculiar, indeed. A strange brown English ale that isn't as good as it used to be, but still better than most.

Capital Brewery Triple Bock - TRIPLE BOCK?!?! Yes. It's a beautiful thing

    Bittb

    I love this band.

I must have heard "The Sound Of Music" (from the above album) several hundred times, but it still elicits an audible GUFFAW from me, every single damn time.

    Seriously.

It's one of the most brilliant pieces of stupidity ever committed to tape.

And you all need to hear it.

  8. I'll have to check that out. I remember him from King Missile but was completely unaware of his own material.

One of the coolest things I ever caught was King Missile in a tiny bar near VT college in the mid-80s and they encored with "Tuesday's Gone, " (Skynyrd) with John Hall singing while wearing a gas mask.

Listening to Flan right now, which is my favorite.

It is certainly not for everybody. But, if you're a King Missle fan, you may like Dogbowl.
