  2. love it when jeff breaks out his jazzmaster too.....
  3. you might wanna change that to say "homicide" just a tip.
  4. My dog Sam ran in and started shaking during the bit on Ashes of American Flags (the song) where Glenn hits the xylophone. Just watching Kingpin right now so we'll how it goes.... EDIT: no response, how strange....
  5. thank you sunken mountain, good understanding SBS is an absolutely brilliant record, i love it and i agree as well, most live versions sound much better
  6. this is a rather alarming topic in my eyes... As a relatively new listener compared to most of you, its the older stuff that really gets my goat tweedy's voice is really different on all other albums except SBS, and it's the slow pace and weird twanging that Jay Bennett throws around Nels has raised them to another level, and i cannot believe songs like Side With The Seeds, On and On and On and leave me like you found me are making it on here, they're very emotionally driven songs with each member of Wilco really allowing their talent to come to the fore. Old songs like radio cure, sur
  7. please please please wilco I have to see them live soon that was the worst thing, coming back off a nice holiday to be told that they have cancelled the shows, the very first thing said to me!!!! argh!! surely they have done every venue in the States by now... come on guys, fair share
  8. Does anyone know where I can find tabs for most of the wilco and various side projects, including golden smog etc? Thanks - sticky
  9. Many thanks!! That looks excellent
  10. we need some more links to watch the videos, and then have a full Impossible Germany solo session of listening to Nels tear it up before voting on our favourites. I finish college next week so I may be doing some scouting, any help would be appreciated... sticky
  11. Does anyone have or know where I could find the heroes artwork of the band? Thanks, Sticky
  12. wow, I'm genuinely surprised by some of the views airing here. I am a recently converted Wilco fan in all honesty, and after discovering SBS, I could not stop listening to it. I can't see why people can see this album as boring really, the amazing soloing of Nels, Glenn's fantastic beats and yet more lyrical beauty from Jeff. Listening to previous albums, this record seems to have more of an upbeat feeling and of positivity in comparison to the previous records, and as a collection of songs and individually, I can repeat earlier sentiments about how I think this is one of the greatest
  13. i think its generally the tempo and tne of the studio albums that makes me listen to the live stuff more its quite downbeat, dark and haunting, and Jeff saying he can't listen to old studio versions kinda compounds my point Nels and Glenn are immense live and many dimensions to the sound, through little intricacies and new parts they through in that just make you gawp in amazement!! sticky
  14. wow GregRVA!! I'm surprised at that response, what tracks do you like on the album then, or other seminal songs from Wilco that you like? Wilco Worshipper is the kind of response I was expecting, lucky that he's been able to see them live... why did the UK gigs have to be cancelled grrrrr
  15. How do people rate the live versions of old songs against their original recordings?? Personally I think they are better, being more upbeat and rocky What does everyone else think?? sticky xx rich
  16. sorry happeningstone i didnt mean any offence by this!! just how strongly i feel about the song u kno i cant help it lol let's not get carried away?!?!?! is this the US ending track?? ill have to find it and listen to it!! yeh i can see your point about the whole live experience livening up the emotion!! and Glenn's part in the track during the breakdown is definately underrated, such a cool drum part!! sticky xx rich
  17. Does anyone know where I can get an mp3 or wav etc for this song (live or studio)?? (not torrent or similar, they such a hassle) It's such a heartwarming song and it would be great if any links or files could be located for me. Thanks a lot, sticky rich
  18. I think this song has to be my joint favourite with Side With The Seeds its unbelievably beautiful the lyrics contrast brilliantly in feeling and emotion to the music and thats what makes this song so good the studio and live versions are equally good i think sometimes Jeff misses emotion slightly live, but in other places he absolutely nails it i can understand why people can cry to this, but it makes me positive and happy, especially "on and on and on, we'll be together yeah" kinda sayin that nothin can brake us apart and that you have to accept inevitabilities and move on, e
  19. and now a 5 day residency in Chicago... I'm starting to feel bittersweet now....
  20. yeah, but only two mainland UK dates, both in London? i know the UK isnt particularly big compared to the states, but i really really hope they reschedule those dates
  21. Does any of my fellow European Wilco fans feel slightly left out in terms of gigs?? ANOTHER stateside tour has been announced, and then they are onto Australia!! of course by passing us!! Does any one have any idea of when they could possibly be playing the UK and some Europe dates as well? I was devastated when the Birmingham gig was cancelled, I'm desperate to see them now!! Any info on potential dates? Thanks everyone sticky
  22. Hi everyone, quick question about one part of this track. When Jeff sings "the more I think about, the more I'm sure it's true" and Glenn does the strange offbeat part, how does he get the pause before the next lyric? it seems to me like hihat, single bass, hihat, double bass, hihat single bass, hihat double bass, but then how does he get the pause, I always mess that bit up. Thanks, Sticky
