  1. Republican Convention delegates, according to the New York Times:

    White: 93%

    African American: 2%

    Latino: 5%

    Men: 68%

Democratic Convention delegates, according to USA Today:

    White: 56.7%

    African American: 24.5%

    Latino: 11.8%

    Men: 50%

    Women: 50%

I don't understand the "latino" separation from white and african american... latinos are black, white, brown, yellow, and everything else inbetween. If a 3rd generation Peruvian family had descended from Japanese immigrants, and speak only spanish, are they "latinos" when they immigrate to the US?

  2. I saw none @ the RNC. You have a point though, some Americans continue to work for the Black minorities exclusively. Hispanics remain the largest minority group at 44.3 million, but somehow overlooked by our politicians. White folks like me are dropping in #'s. We seem to be aging but not producing as many babies. This will certainly change politics in our childrens future.I'm bored with the black-white racial dynamics, and nothing else.

Some hispanics ARE white folks like you.

  3. And there's more - let's take a look at some of Palin's pastor's opinions, and lets just hope Palin does not share them, even a little bit:

Isn't this something you'd criticize the other side for doing - bringing up the content of the candidate's pastor's sermons?

Why lower yourself to their level?

  4. The one I tend to pull out most often is the 1978 live If you want blood you got it.

Besides including "Riff Raff" and "Whole Lotta Rosie" I've just always dug that ridiculous campy-ass cover of Angus impaled by an SG.

That album cover used to scare the hell out of me as a kid.

  5. i'm quite a big hater of the idea that saying how shit someone else is must therefore mean that you'd do a better job by contrast. it only leads to disappointment. so i'd say that was a bad ad.

But it's not saying that. It's saying "Your approval rating of Bush has likely diminished over time. McCain's approval of Bush has increased. Don't you think you should consider that fact when you vote?"

  6. Best Use of an Accordion on a Rock Album -

    REM: You Are The Everything

I'll follow up on this tangent...

REM's got to overcome a whole lotta David Hidalgo's squeezebox playing with Los Lobos to claim this title...
