  1. looks like the parking map is up...anyone have suggestions on the best parking area?

If you get there early you can park in #3 or right along River St, if you get there later I have no idea.

  2. If it was the boombox and acoustic guitar then it was the Stop Making Sense tour a few years after this. The link above is to a show from 1980 which was the first big expanded Talking Heads band and parts of that tour were included on the album The Name of This Band is Talking Heads ...

It is worth watching to see Adrian Belew's guitar playing.

Sorry, I was referring to the original Aquarium Drunkard link to the Stop Making Sense show in '83.

  3. Thanks for posting this, I was at this show, 4th row, slept outside of SPAC to get tickets. It was back in the days before we knew what to expect from a concert, and the whole crowd was in attendance, there was no opener, and the stage was empty and the lights were on. People were getting restless as concert time came and went, and then a rumor made it's way around that band and their equipment were delayed due to accident on the highway but that they were on their way. Out walks David Byrne with a boom box and acoustic guitar and the rest is history....

  4. The incessant guitar line without release always leads me to issue a 'wow' afterwards. It is an emotional marker at the beginning of shows. When it's followed by a quieter song, it offers a really stark example of the emotional peaks and valleys in the show.

Reminiscent of the shower scene music from Psycho, it fits the lyrics perfectly.

  5. The whole weekend was mind blowing. The luxury of seeing green grass and trees and the privilege of standing in the glorious rain to watch the best band in world (it hasn't rained here in 4 months and the world is burning, so I enjoyed getting watered). The best part was shaking Jeff's hand at the falconry demo and seeing the fun he and his family were having.

Solid Sound also features live Falconry with Chris Davis of New England Falconry, Solid Sound Radio courtesy of The Numero Group, a short film series with films selected by MASS MoCA, Wilco and Toronto’s Smiley Guy Studios, a Euclid Records pop-up, an updated Wilco poster retrospective, an onsite screen-printing demonstration, Story Pirates, Lava, the Bureau for Open Culture, local food, a dunk tank for charity and much more.

Besides being a Wilco fanatic I am also a falconer, who if you know any, are also a seriously fanatical lot. I'm friends with Chris Davis and will be helping him with his birds on Sunday (the only day he's there). I'm not exactly sure what he has planned, but he may do a person to person flight demo where he gets volunteers from the crowd and the bird flies between a half dozen folks landing on their gauntlet (which Chris will supply). Don't hold me to it, but if that's what he's going to do it's a blast and shouldn't be missed. Stop by and say hello at least, Chris has some beautiful Harris hawks and they are very social birds, and the photo ops will be great.
