  1. I dreamt the album title last night - now I can't remember it. Jeff told it to me in a dream. He should have told someone with a better memory - LoL

He did, me, Wilco The Album

  2. Ok, lets start with the fact that we all love Wilco right? I mean we wouldn't be lurking around here in the first place if we didn't have some strong positive regard for this band. Now that being said, I'm cool with the fact that Sky Blue Sky didn't do it for some of those on this board, and I'm not a Wilco cheerleader who refuses to ever make a negative comment about the band. However, some of the posts about the new album that none of us have heard have this negative undertone that I just don't understand. I wonder what people want from this band. Do you want them to be aimless envelope pushers tyring to out do their YHF's to and endless point of nonsense? What is it that you want? Wilco started with a sweet little country pop record. Then they made a straight out sprawling rock record. Then they made a orchestra pop masterpiece, then they made a experimental pop masterpiece, then they made what I can only call a Wilco record. Then they made an in the moment simplified picture of the band record. What do you want now? Hell I'd take a straight country album, but I don't care. Jeff Tweedy can write sweet songs and I like em however I can get em. Does this band need to be anything more to some of you? Can't we just be happy that for a band of guys that should be way beyond their musical prime but they still make solid records be enough? Just my thoughts.

I want the new album to be a total commercial failure, just like everyone else....

  3. I just got back on the computer after being away since this show.....I won tix through JamBase and my wife and I flew up to SLC from Albuquerque on Monday the 18th to see the show. To say the least we were pleasantly surprised when we went up to the will call and they had an envelop with my name on it and 2 tickets - SWEET!!!! The venue was beautiful, very small outdoor sloping lawn scene full of folks partying with beer and wine, who'd a thought this could be in the Mormon capitol of the world?? Anyway, we meandered right down front on the left side and watched the last couple of tunes by the Fleet Foxes who sounded really excellent.

After a short intermission Wilco came on and played an awesome set, we were just hanging out and boggieing to the music and making a couple of little videos with my daugter's Flip vid cam when the big bad bald security force came and hauled my butt out of there and demanded that I delete my illegal video. I couldn't believe it!! There were people staggering around totally drunk, folks lighting up big old doobs and here I'm get busted for making a crappy little low res video? Give me a F-ing break! I complied with Mr. Clean's request and deleted said video, but these dudes were out to get me, and me being a big time wise ass sort of egged them on. They kept giving me the evil eye and I would wave to them and they finally had enough and wanted me to go with them, I refused and they brought in the local police. So here I am being interogated by these security dudes and the local cops, I didn't have the camera, in the shuffle I lost it and they went balistic about that whole deal - what was I supposed to do? They ended up kicking me out just as Spiders(Kidsmoke) was ending. Truly sucked. I listened to the rest of the show from outside the venue. I think these security dudes were pissed that people were all high and partying in front of them and they couldn't do a thing about it, so they went after people with cameras

  4. Wait so you don't get to pick the show?

I did pick Salt Lake when I entered, at that time I was supposed to be in NY THIS week and to see Wilco at Tanglewood. I got screwed over by work and had to work this week and had to postpone my trip back east (I'm in NM) until next week. I had no clue I was going to win tix at the time. In essence work has caused me to miss two Wilco shows....time to look for a new job!!!

  5. Has anyone won tickets from this contest? I got an email today from JamBase saying that I won two tix to Salt Lake on the 18th. Said the tix would be at will call, all I had to do was print the email and have photo ID. Also, they are mailing me a goodie bag with a Wilco disk of my choosing.

Bottom line is I'll be in NY on the 18th so I won't be able to attend, if anyone wants the email to try and get in I'd be happy to send it to whomever, drop me a PM. I guess you'd have to fake being me (probably a better option, then the reality) and tell the will call folks a line of fibs about your ID. Might be worth a try....

  6. Thanks for the pics, they're great!!! It was my 1st show, as well as my kids and wife's too. We were a couple of rows behind you also on the Nels' side of the stage. That show re-newed hope in me that there is still truly awesome music being made (I'm a Deadhead from the 80's) . Even planned a trip and bought tix to the Tanglewood show, but alas, as the song goes "happenstance has changed my plans....." Work will get in the way and I had to cancel, still hurting on that. Now keep your fingers crossed that a recording of the show turns up sometime soon. Adios!

  7. Beautiful dogs! What breed? Zoltar is so cool looking!

Thanks, all of the brown/red dogs are salukis (saluqi) - sighthounds originally from the middle east. Zoltar comes, his do parents anyway, from the far eastern reaches of salukidom, Kazakhstan, where they are called Tazis. Great dogs, they can run incredibly fast for very long distances. Chance is a sighthound crossed with a fox hound, that's where he got his cool colors, and Sammie is an American Brittany. We also have 2 Aussies. Can never have too many dogs....I didn't really say that....
