  1. My wife and I attended this show as a belated 14th anniversary date. Jeff was quite a sight to see in his braided pigtails - we both got a kick out of that! The band and the setlist were as solid as ever, though the banter was definitely more sparse than other shows I've attended. There was one particularly poignant moment when Jeff noted that the show was the first time in over 20 years that he's played St. Louis and his father was not in attendance. He quickly lightened the mood and turned it into a laugh as he said, while he was sad, he was more sad for all the people who would have to bu
  2. I know what you mean! Last night was my sixth time, as well. While I have been lucky enough to have experienced Ashes, I have yet to experience California Stars in person. Actually, I didn't really get anything "new" last night. I was at the first Ryman show this past Saturday, and the main set was exactly the same with the exception of "New Madrid." I didn't get to go to the second night, and I see that they played "California Stars"... tha
  4. Nice review! As far as your friends assertion that Wilco's Farm Aid performance was better... well, you can take that with a HUGE gain of salt! I was there, and I have two points to make about the Farm Aid set: 1. Wilco played all of about 6 songs... and any Wilco fan will tell you that they are just getting warmed up after the first 6 songs. However, Tweedy's banter was definitely above par, which brings me to my second point... 2. Wilco played right after Gretchen Wilson (sorry if anyone reading this is a fan of hers -- I am not) so ANYBODY would have performed an AMAZING set after
