You dudes remember that time Wilco played the Malkin Bowl and Jeff said "don't worry, we'll be back sooner next time!". That was two years ago...............
Jeff, why do you lie to your fans?! :'(
maybe you should blame Tony Margheritta for those 'lies'

well put. i've been known to say ridiculous, reactionary things here. it's no good for anyone. one of my goals in the next few weeks is to take a break from the internet. i really can't think of anything good that's come of it, other than making anxious about ridiculous things.
I agree to disagree: for many people out there Wilco has come of it

My head is blown and my heart melts only by imagining Jeff singing "When you're lost in the rain in Juarez and it's Easter time too, When your gravity fails you and negativity don't pull you through..."

Great: Solitaire, BBN, Unlikely Japan
Good: Wilco (The Song), You & I
Meh: Deeper Down, One Wing, Sonny Feeling, I'll Fight, Jolly Banker
Bland: Country Disappeared, Everlasting Everything, Dark Neon, You Never Know
Better than AM, worse than SBS.

I love the way that Jeff's and Feist's voices are synchronized all along the supposedly cheesy song, EXCEPT when they sing “are misconstrued”, with Feist delay (misconstruing?)

Yes, my wife is beginning to be fed up of hearing Wilco everywhere

Wilco don't make no junk.
Is there really no one else who likes "You And I"? I am truly baffled by this.
I do like "You and I"!. I became accostumed to the fact that you always will find people that considers garbage what you think of as a masterpiece (as we say in spanish, "hay gente para todo"). Of course the thing always functions viceversa. As an example, 'Yesterday' from McCartney, one of the worst songs ever written among those highly regarded I can recall now, imo, but...
However, I cannot stand "You never know" or "Sonny feeling". Toooooo much deja vu in their melodies and not a single moment of remarkable instrumental nuance to remember...by now.

Wilco joins Bob Dylan to record some Woody songs. Tweedy plays acoustic guitar and sings choruses in "Bob's songs" while Jorgensen and Cline (mainly) elaborate on a new 'mercurial sound". Bob makes nothing in "Tweedy's songs"

This guy from Dusted does seem to really hate WTA
“Wilco is a Great Band, if you like stuff that’s boring. And a lot of people seemingly do”
http://www.dustedmagazine.com/reviews/5120
However, his review of the last Akron/Family album, opening band for recent Wilco shows in Spain, reveals that his musical tastes and mine are in the antipodes. I used to enjoy this band...until I saw them live. One of the worst and most boring shows I've been in my (long) life.

My complaint is not the mastering but how some of the new songs sound live. In You never know, for instance, the piano is totally drowned by Pat and the guitars sound
-
There's a big difference between believing in god, and believing in organized religion. From what I've heard, the movie explores the latter.
Were you to be right, infinite hoorays! for Tweedy...!

Why do people feel compelled to "rank" albums? Do you rank your children, and have a favourite, "2nd fave" and a "runner up"? "Jane was an alright kid, but Billy was a real improvement".
If not kids, do you rank your friends? "Hey, we're having a real get together this weekend. My equal 5th favourite buddy is coming along, it'll be a blast".
Well said. (C'mon, kids, you're acting like children, act you age)

Apologies - but for some reason I can't open the 'Published Reviews' thread for the new album - so I'm posting this in a new thread. Maybe one of the mods can move this to the 'Published Reviews' thread later.
Same for me. Interesting review here

For those of you that understand Spanish, there are at least two chronicles of the fantastic gig Wilco gave yesterday in Madrid. Also, unexpectedly for their status in Spain, this concert has appeared in the News of the main Spanish TV channel (TV1, with a brief interview with Jeff ("Spanish people is so enthusiastic..."). Probably they would also appear inth emain evening TV1 news but this will not occur as all of Spain will be seeing the Manchester United vs Barcelona Champions (soccer) final
I will try to chronicle next week this gig and that they will offer in Seville on next Saturday. No mention to Jay and abundance of YHF material...From Wilco (tA) only Wilco (the song) and You never Know

Great to know that one of the men responsible for the “mercurial sound” likes Wilco.
Is there any thread on the opinions of other “great names” on Wilco? You know, Dylan, Young, the boss, Costello, Replacements, Petty, Pearl Jam, etc?
For example, if I remember well, I read in Dylan’s Chronicles something on the “American band Wilco”, in the context of Guthrie songs, without any opinion...(but the fact was that Bragg was not even mentioned by Bob, which I thought was denigrating for this man)
