Sure, but again, why even pretend like they're competing for the same title then? Whether or not they're actually as good as anyone else is completely beside the point. It's just a stupid system that doesn't allow most of the teams even the chance to compete. Either create a system where every team at least has a chance, or put them in a separate league.

 

To be fair to Utah, when they scheduled this year's game against Michigan a couple years back, it probably was an attempt at scheduling a tough non-conference game. Not really their fault that the program reached it's lowest point this year.

No it wasnt Utah's fault Meatchicken sucked this year but why stop there, I mean maybe Utah should have schedule 2-3 more traditional powers? I mean there are programs that actually play BC$ teams every week not just once or twice a year, if a program like Utah or Boise wants to get serious about contending for a national title the only way will be to schedule 3-4 big time programs a year, win those games, and hope they have a hell of a season....people are quick to say Utah scheduled Meatchicken, yes but they also played Weber State and Utah State, the Utes are a solid team probably top 10 and deserving of a BC$ game but national title game? Cmon, would they finish in the top half of the Big 12 or SEC?

The BCS is going to have some great games this year, could look something like this...

National Title Game

Florida vs OU or Texa$.....which either would be the best NC game in years IMHO

Rose Bowl

Penn State vs Oregon State (LOL @ U$C if they dont win their crummy conference)

Sugar Bowl

Alabama vs U$C

Fiesta Bowl

Texa$ or OU vs Utah

Orange Bowl

ACC champion vs Big East champion.....something like Georgia Tech vs Cincy

But how fun would a 10 team playoff be? Give the top 6 teams (BCS conference champions) byes

and then the other four teams play two games reducing the field to 8 teams and then you have seven games over the course of 3-4 weeks to determine a national title....a final 4 of Florida, Texa$, OU, U$C....I mean who doesnt want that?

I use to be very anti playoff, I use to think something that was great about college football was you didnt have a cinderella, the team that won the NC was a team that was good all year long, not a team that just got hot late in the year (like the Giants in the NFL last year), but now there is just so much gray area when it comes to college football that they need a playoff, no more than 8-10 teams though but thats just my opinion

you take the best non BCS team the last 5 years either Boise State, Hawaii, Utah, etc and they wouldnt finish in the top half of the Big 12 or SEC, they just dont have the horses....if they want to play for a national title they need to schedule better teams out of conference and beat them, but beating up on Nevada doesnt get you in the national title game

Really the only team that can complian about the BC$ is Auburn, they ran the table in 2004 with nothing to show for it, since the BC$ has been around any teams that have got "screwed" out of playing for a national title had at least one loss....win all your games and its not a problem, unless you are Auburn in 2004

If OU wins the Big 12 south and title though they do deserve to go to the NC game, how can you deny a team who won the best conference in America? Texa$ should have played better teams out of conference, playing UTEP and Rice is hurting them, looks like its time for the Horn$ to put on any Okie State gear they might have, say OU makes the Big 12 title game Pissouri (who I do hate) could beat them and if that happens its Texa$ in the NC game...if they beat A&M, which their 5 star scout team might be able to do

FWIW a Texa$-OU rematch in the national title game would be fun, how about that defensive effort by OU though Sat night against Texas Tech? Maybe Venables should be the next head coach at Texa$??

The AL West is not a very good division, the A's could easily get 2nd in that division which puts them in the wild card race, also if they are out of the race they will be able to unload Holiday this summer before the trade deadline and get a lot for him, if not and they lose him via free agency they will get a first round pick for him and Billy Beane drafts very well, the A's didnt give up anyone who you can look at and say they are in all star for sure, Gonzalez and Smith were very average last year and Street wasnt needed with Devine and Zeigler on the roster

Well that's the trouble. With Texas ahead in the computers and OU ahead in the human polls, I think OU will jump UT in the overall BCS standings if both win next week. But if OU doesn't jump UT, it would be UT playing Mizzou, not OU, because the BCS standings are used as the tie-breaker in the Big 12.

thats right I forgot about that...you would think OU will win in Stillwater and jump Texa$, I think they will anyway but what do I know, Okie State is good but I dont think they matchup well upfront at all with OU...I will say OU 38 Okie State 28....OU and Texa$ it's basically flip a coin, OU proved a lot Saturday though with their win over Texas Tech, who didnt see that coming I mean really? Texa$ does have a charmin soft out of conference schedule though and OU at least beat TCU and Cincy..... two solid teams...if Cincy were to win the Big East that could really help OU
