The only real bright light on last season. Now let's see what the Indians can do this off-season. The question is, do we keep Shoppach and Martinez at C? Shoppach has done amazing filling in, and his bat was red hot. We could keep both, put Martinez in at DH or keep him at C on Shoppach off days, but it would be interesting to see if GM Shapiro will offer Martinez up.

Whats the word in Cleveland about Matt LaPorta? Do they think he will be in the show in 2K9?

  2. Ohio is stocked with HS talent, after Texas-CA-Florida its one of the top HS football states, Ohio State cant recruit every OH kid, I do remmeber Brewer though he was solid, didnt South Carolina beat Ohio State in the Outback bowl a few years back?

  3. I have always enjoyed Betemit, he has never got a shot to play everyday, his career high in a season for at bats is only 373, Sox will also need a 3rd baseman cuz they said they will not be resigning Joe Crede, the Sox are still pretty high on Josh Fields but he hasnt developed as well as they thought he would

  4. Then why pick up a mediocre reliever who can't throw strikes and give up a 21 y/o flamethrower out of the pen?

insurance, just in case Marmol isnt ready to close, Gregg isnt very good I agree, the Cubs have a decent pen though even without Gregg and Wood, Jose Ceda will probably close for the Marlins in 2010

Swisher can play 1st and play the OF, good guy to have and good in the clubhouse, good pick up for the Yanks

  5. I heard Escobar is not very popular in the clubhouse, I agree I wouldnt want to trade him either though, I think he can be an all star SS but when you have a chance to get an ace you jump at it, especially with Hudson being hurt and Smoltz not getting younger, I heard the final part of the Peavy trade is if they want Reyes or Morton

  6. Peavy would be going to ATL though and gets to pitch in a pitchers park, not quite as good of a pitchers park as SD plays in but a pitchers park nonetheless, he is a strikeout pitcher with great control I think he will do well in ATL, what would worry me about Peavy is his Groundball to flyball ratio

  7. Im a HUGE college baseball fan so I really do think drafting college players is the way to go, sure there are a few guys here and then that are cant miss prospects who are HS kids (Griffey JR, Chipper Jones, and Joe Mauer come to mind) but if you are drafting a guy from the SEC, Pac 10, Big 12, or ACC they have played very good competition for a few years and I'd much rather have a guy who is 21 and is a year or two away from the show then a guy who is 18 and might need four or five years in the minors, especially drafting in the first round I have always thought you should draft someone in the fiorst round you can see with your big club in two years....the Rays had the 1st pick this year and took Tim Bechman (a HS kid) and hopefully they wont regret not taking Pedro Alvarez, Buster Posey, or Gordon Beckham

  8. I dont think its much more complicated at all but agree to disagree, there is a reason some teams seem to always draft well and some dont, As a Ranger fan Im use to not drafting well and as a Red Sock fan you are use to drafting well...at least lately

I'm hoping for Josh Hamilton for AL MVP but it will probably be Pedroia

NL MVP is a tough call, maybe Ryan Bruan, heck CC deserves some love....Ryan Howard probably gets it though
