  1. I kind of like Afternoon delight, and Brandy, and a lot of other songs that are supposed to be embarrassing. But the vast majority of these posts are on the money! Others people have mentioned to me are Knights in white satin ( I don't mind that one but the poetry part is pretty lame) and that "White bird in a golden cage" song. Can't say I hate that one either.

Pretty much anything by Korn makes me nauseous.

  2. I read the name of the thread and thought Lucinda might have injured a knee!

Pretty much every singer I have worked with has used a music stand although usually not for their originals, just covers.

Stipe had a teleprompter for "End of the world" when I saw them in concert although that kind of makes sense.

I imagine it's tough memorizing all those words although I have to remember all those chords and fills!

  3. Absolutely. The segues between each 'section' are so smooth and fully realized it is just astounding.

I always thought the whale-like sounds were Dave on his guitar - similar to the things he does in the Pompeii movie during "Saucerful". Are we talking about the same thing? Doesn't matter - that is some of the most deeply psychedelic music ever made.

Not to mention the way Gilmour's and Wrights voices sound together. Beautiful thing. Not my favorite Floyd song but it's up there.

  4. L.A. Woman- The Doors. this song is THE best tune of all time, for real. everything about it is so romantic and full of every emotion that I can't properly describe it. even the way it was recorded, Morrison laid down the vocals in a bathroom, is romantic. my avatar is a pic of Morrison taken during the L.A. Woman sessions. :pirate

I went and visited the site in LA where they recorded LA woman. It's now a coffee shop/restaurant. I do agree this is a great song but not the greatest by any stretch. I get a kick out of how drunk he sounds in this one, that "rrreahhhhhhhrghhhh!" towards the end during the guitar solo is great. I do love the doors.

  5. I've not had one problem with any of the Ipods me and my family have owned, other than my daughter dropping her's while running and steping on it simultaniously to crush it. other than that no issues.

I won an IPOD at work and it crapped out within 2 months. I'm done with em. I love my Sansa however.

  6. Thanks for the heads up. With as much as I love that album, and considering how much I've studied the history surrounding it, I think I would probably dislike the book as well.

I read the 33 1/3 about "Let it Be" (Replacements) written by the lead singer of The Decemberists. It was not bad but did not have much to say about the album. I remember being struck by the fact that he ran out and bought the album as soon as it came out when he was in middle school I think. Why couldn't I be hip to cool bands like The Replacemements at that age?
