  1. WTA review from the SBS loving (and possibly dyslexic) Russell Baillie of the NZ Herald; NZ Herald And another from Radio NZ - the Wilco section is at the start of the podcast. Radio NZ Some nice observations (apart from the tenuous Crowded House comparisons at the end; I think the only thing the two bands have in common is that they can both pay homage to the Beatles yet still sound unmistakably like themselves). Album also got a really nice 5 star review in NZ music monthly Real Groove (not available in online version yet) So lots of favorable coverage for WTA down here - mayb
  2. Dad-rock alert!!!! This story contains references to Wilco and golf..... Location was South Head Golf course, about 45 mins out of Auckland, NZ, on a beautiful sunny mid-week afternoon (when i would normally be at work). A casual game of golf with a couple of mates, a few beers in the bag to make sure we stayed well hydrated, the course virtually to ourselves (we didn't see another group the whole afternoon) and, for a non-golfer, i was playing like a champ. So all in all a very pleasant afternoon that i didn't think could get much better.... The course is out the back of beyond, surrounde
  3. Yep, NZ TV and "good stuff" are usually mutually exclusive, however.... If anyone is interested in seeing this doco I'd suggest trying the on-demand section of the TVNZ website (www.tvnz.co.nz), as they seem to make most of their programming available to view there after it has screened (though not sure whether this is available outside NZ or not). If the doco isn't there you can always check out some of our "quaint" local shows (and you thought the Flight of the Conchords guys were kidding didn't you!)
  4. Yeah, that's what i thought at first - but noticed that both times that it was listed as just "I Got You" it showed as a cover in the set breakdown... Anyway...after hearing Neil, Jeff and assorted band members blast through it at the 7WC show maybe it will show up occassionally as an encore "party piece" at future shows? As mentioned by plenty of posters already, the 7WC shows were great. The Wilco boys seemed to be having huge fun playing their own and other artists songs. Their extended (in the context of the rest of the show) sets were really well received by the crowd - which was great
  5. I've seen "I Got You" listed as a cover on a few Wilco setlists - anyone know if it is a cover of the Split Enz song?
