Hey, something to consider. An AC/30 is a nice amp and all but it's a big heavy cumbersome thing. You can probably get away w/ something that has a single speaker and less wattage, seriously;( I'm not saying you'll save any $ going this route but you might save your back and have more space for other gear in the back of your car). Lot's of small little 12-15W amps on the market right now that are loud enough to cut through the mix and are perfect for small clubs.

Just finished: & Went through Approximately Heaven in a couple of hours. Both are pretty good reads. Southern settings, I would liken Whorton's style to Winston Groom but that wouldn't be quite accurate. The humor is a bit more dry; (there is one LOL scene in Frankland that's hilarious tho..) overall I enjoyed A.H. more because it's a lifestyle I am familiar with and the setting hits very close to home. Lite quick reads that are thouroghly enjoyable.

Finally got around to finishing this. Neat storied account of the 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair Exposition and what is purported to be the first known US serial killer. I enjoyed learning about the colossal endeavor that the Fair's organizers, architects and engineers undertook during the construction of the buildings, exhibits and the transformation of the Jackson Park/Lake Shore area. I also really dug learning about some of the modern conveniences we enjoy today that were first introduced here;( there are a few unflattering references to my current employer which I admit I took some degree of

just finished Encyclopedia of an ordinary life by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. I can't really recommend this book. I can see where people can connect to it on some level but it's getting lots of acclaim that I just don't understand. NR: X-mas gift. Yea!

Incredibly Close was indeed brilliant. Finished it late last week and then started.... ....Which was nothing like I expected but a facinating little novel.

Knocked this out on Saturday afternoon. Classic Chabon. Short, sweet fun. Reads like a young adult novel. Recommended for Chabon fans though not on par w/"Wonderboys" or "The adventures of Kaviler and Clay" NR Really good so far.

Not a book: (Yet?) but I thought it would be a good fit for this crowd. It's a segment from NPR's All things considered called "My Lobotomy" You can read an abridged version of the narrative here but I'd really suggest listening to it. It has to be the most profoundly moving piece I've ever heard on from NPR. Maybe it's because I'd just gotten through the first 60-70 pages of Frey's "My friend Leonard" and was feeling a little melancholy anyway but ...damn. Very touching disturbing story. link

Going back a bit. I recently finished Dylan's "Chronicles". While I enjoyed his stylized descriptions it actually became a little difficult for me to finish near the end. I became impatient with his moving foreword and backwards within the timeline of events and his slow eloquent manner of illustration. I may skip Vol II and try a biography instead. Just finished David Sedaris's "Naked". This may be my favorite of all of his work yet; (have not read "Barrel Fever" and don't even know if it too is a memoir). NR Frey's "My Friend Leonard".

I concur with with this man's statement. The degree to which a woman is attractive, sexy or hOtt has nothing to do with what our societies conventional standards seem to be; (it's subjective....at least for me anyway).
