  1. Thanks, a lot of miscellaneous stuff has been added since I was there last.
  2. I can't get past his voice most times. I think Wilco completely outshines Billy's songs on the albums. It takes all kinds.
  3. Thanks, The Collected Jeff Tweedy is probably a good place to start here. Does anyone have an "Alternate Album" track lists for any of Wilco's records? I am a big Beatles fan, and some of my favorite Beatles bootlegs are the "Alternate Album" mixes, where the tracklist of an album is used, but the official takes are replaced with demos, outtakes, live tracks, or other interesting versions. YHF seems like it would be the easiest album to do this with. Does anyone have opinions on what the best alternate versions of YHF songs are? Mix those in with some of the outtakes and there are endles
  4. Some great responses here, thanks guys! Bringing up solo live recordings make me wonder if anyone does something similar for all the songs that Jeff has done live that have not appeared on albums. There are so many great songs scattered across dozens of bootlegs that never got proper release, now I might need to make a playlist of all that stuff, so i can listen to it like it's own self contained album. Thoughts? I have also done something similar with the Mermaid Ave stuff. Again, I know many disagree, but when I want to listen to the Mermaid tracks I am not interested in Billy's ma
  5. I am always curious about how other fans listen to odd ball tracks by artists we love. I have created a custom playlist for Jeff's work outside of Wilco. My list is the following: "You Never Know" is the alternate version from The Sun Came Out and does not "technically" belong here. I know this might be blasphemy to some people, but I really enjoy hearing Jeff's material all together rather than listening to an entire Golden Smog or Loose Fur album. Are they any tracks that you personally think I am missing? How does everyone else like to listen to all of these songs?
  6. My favorite recordings of my bands have been everyone live but all amps isolated in a different, sound proof, room. A feed of a click track and all amps and mics sent to the drummer's headphones to get the drums recorded with everyone "live" then individual tracks recorded on top of the "clean" drum track. I hope that made sense....
  7. I just finished Kingpin, and man this show is awesome already, thanks!
  8. What's the date of the Terminal 5 show? I cannot find it.
  9. I got into the band with AGiB, so I have only had the chance to see the currently lne-up. I have always wanted to see Wilco do speciality tours where they could do different lineups. With Jay being gone, we won't be able to see the ultimate vision of this, but they could still shake things up and do the post YHF lineup tour. Maybe even do a mini tour with multinight stands in larger cities and do different lineups/themes per night
  10. Wow, this show it probably my favorite that I have heard from this era, thanks for the recomendation!
  11. Looks like Jeff played it 2011-07-08, 2011-07-09 and 2011-07-10. None of which are on owl and bear.
  12. Is the lead singer wearing a costume or....?
  13. Any meet-up/dinner plans for tonight?
  14. Amazing video, Thanks! Does anyone have any photos of the bass John is playing? -Todd
  15. Been anticipating this since I first heard about it. Thanks for the heads up. This part confuses me: "Sitting in on drums, we had James Gadson, who's played on most of the Bill Withers records and on songs like 'Express Yourself' and 'I Will Survive." this guy must be Glenn's little brother or something....
  16. It's that not that dislike any of those songs, I just like what Jeff does so much more. One the other hand, I do dislike Jim's voice on the Loose Fur stuff. I thinks Jim's contributions to the Loose Fur songs and YHF are awesome. I really love his music and his ideas, but not his voice. On that note, has there ever been any definite article or list of what he has contributes to Wilco recordings. Specific instruments on specific songs, or mixing techniques or decisions?
  17. I think I am kind of in an interesting position, being a relative new Wilco fan (first album being SBS) I had no idea these other Tweedy projects existed and I got a few solo shows early on and only knew of the LF, GS, and Mermaid songs as solo Jeff songs and had no idea there were "proper" versions of them. As I became more and more obsessed with Jeff's music and found these other projects and "proper" versions of these songs that I have known for a year or so, I really want to be able to just hit play on my iPhone and hear the proper versions of all these songs that I have been missing out
  18. I don't have a single playlists on my iPhone at all, it just seems like the easiest way to play all the Tweedy/Wilco only songs from Loose Fur, Mermaid, Golden Smog, Chelsea Walls.... Maybe I am the only one who wants to do this? I am the exact same way but then Jim starts singing, I always want to skip the song. Aside from the material in the original post, I only listen to full albums. I kind of look at all these Jeff/Wilco songs cherry picked from other projects as an album to themselves and would listen to them in that way. An album on miscellaneous Wilco/Tweedy songs.
  19. I am curious how everyone listens to Jeff's songs that are not on Wilco records. I find more and more than I don't care about the Billy Bragg songs on the Mermaid Ave records. I also don't care too much for the songs that Jim sings on the Loose Fur records and have removed them from my iPhone. Do you guys have playlists of just Jeff's songs off of Mermaid, Loose Fur, Golden Smog, etc? There are so many songs that Jeff plays at solo shows that are not proper Wilco songs that I got to know as solo/acoustic Jeff songs and getting to know then as full band, in the studio songs is great, I ju
