Tuscon April 17, and Phoenix April 18!
-
I put very little importance on the Grammys but I was still glad for the recognition that The War On Drugs got in winning Rock Album of the Year last night. They deserve the acknowledgement and I hope it helps keep the train rolling for this great band.
Still chomping at the bit for what I hope are fill in dates around the two weekends at Coachella this April or any other tour dates in cool cities, they are my highest concert-attending priority in 2018 while they are peaking.
I check TWOD's tour page a ridiculous number of times per day to see if they've added anything in between or around those Coachella shows. I noticed that David Byrne will be performing in Tuscon, San Diego, Las Vegas and Mesa in between his Saturday Coachella shows. The Fleet Foxes are hitting San Luis Obispo and Berkeley. Not that any of this matters!

You coming?
I think if they were going to add a show that they would've done it already. They knew those Largo shows would sell out immediately. The reason the Largo calendar is so wide open is that they are almost always closed for the holidays from just before Christmas to about a week after New Year's, so they are opening specially to accommodate the Jeff shows.
Good to know. Thanks for the info!

JT is playing two shows at Largo in LA on 12/28-29
I wonder if Jeff will add a third show on either Wed or Sat?! The Largo's event calendar is wide open...

John did the call-and-response vocal thing with Jeff during Sunken Treasure and it sounded absolutely amazing!
-
Thanks for the great recap, bbop. I don't really have much to add except that the a cappella version of AMDG was stunning. Sometimes (but not often) I forget about how emotive and powerful Jeff's voice is.
Also, thank you for the very kind words, bbop.

Had a great time tonight. Taping in that room is a bit of a hassle, but it came out well. Impossible Germany was particularly moving tonight.
Here's my tape: http://viachicago.org/topic/52324-wilco-20170318-beacon-theater-night-1/
Thank you for taping and sharing! Much appreciated.

That's a good question. I was wondering the same.

I'm hoping 2017 is the year where we finally get an extensive tour of Western Canada.
Haha, I'm with you on this, The Cowboy Poet. Western Canadians, unite!

If I Ever Was A Child on the house speakers at The Rickshaw in Vancouver before last night's DBT rock show.
-
The Montevideo Uruguay show has disappeared from the wilcoworld page, and word from the local venue company is that the show is canceled.
This is incredibly bad news.
Sorry, ashtray. Bad news indeed.

Fellow Canadians... packages from Wilco's Kung Fu store usually come up via Puralator, correct? I don't want Schmilco to get trapped in the mail if this strike goes long.
Mine have always come via Canada Post...
-
Damn, I wish they were doing these listening parties in Canada, I want a Schmilco slipmat
Me, too!

Gun on the speakers at The Imperial in Vancouver before last night's Jayhawks show.

Well I was originally worried about where to stay, but the wife just discovered there's a decent hotel right next to the Moore Theatre, so that takes care of that.
How's driving downtown? How's the Moore Theatre area at night? Best record stores? Is the EMP Museum worth visiting?
The Palladian? I just stayed there a week ago when I went to see Andrew Bird. It's a really nice hotel. Bumbershoot (music and arts festival) will be on Labour Day weekend so you might want to check that out. I'm flying down for the 2 Wilco shows from Vancouver - see you there!
PS regarding the neighbourhood...it felt pretty safe to me. I walked back from The Showbox (Pike Place Market area) to the hotel around 11pm and it was fine.
