hooray! my ticket is reserved. I've been waiting a looooooooong time for this...
How were you able to get a ticket? I can't find the show online for sale anywhere, and I sent an e-mail last night but have received no response.
Update: Ah, I see that I can order tickets for cash pickup from the Colosseum box office, but I don't see any other option, such as having them mailed to the US.

More details, now in English:
The Stimul Festival rolls out its first fall triumph: WILCO!
Venue is the Archa Theatre (Divadlo Archa)
Appears to be a GA venue, with a capacity of roughly 1000.
Tickets on sale today at CZK720 (roughly $38).
-
What about Vienna?
Indeed, I really love the look of that venue. Never been to Vienna, but the distance and timing would work nicely with the (I hope) Prague date.
-
Thanks for all the leads!
We're still on the fence about Berlin as we both vastly prefer GA shows where we can get up front and not worry about the standing/sitting issue. Also waiting for announcement of a show in the Czech Republic, which could actually be on my birthday (Sep 29) if it comes after the Berlin show as I would expect.
-
The Berlin show on September 27 is perfect timing for us, as we were planning a European vacation then anyway. But when I tried to buy tickets online, I found that the site is (a) in German only and ( apparently available to Germans only.
Anyone with local knowledge have a suggetion for how to get tickets? Also, with three price ranges, is it GA with different areas (main floor, upstairs, or is it a seated venue?

Wow, that was offensive on so many levels. Even worse, it's not funny, just racist.

So many haikus
Even Tweedy needs some time

rwilson IS correct, but then there were about 4,582 posts going, "WILCO DOESN'T NO WHAT THERE TALKING ABOUT!!!111!! BLU-RAY ROOLZ!!" following it. I post that memory hoping to avoid more of the same.
Well, if it was shot in HD video or film, it would benefit from a transfer. But the lighting conditions for most concert footage offer a challenge. I had not heard of the band nixing this one, but they would know best.
-
Well it has been about a year since Wilco forced Plexifilm to pull the plug on the Blu-ray release of IATTBYH. Totally frustrating that we can not get this film on Blu-ray. Or any other Wilco/Jeff Tweedy film for that matter. Frankly, equally frustrating that Ashes was released as a DVD only film as well. PLEASE Wilco...get with the HD program!!
+10 on this. Although Ashes of American Flags looks pretty good on an upscaled DVD player, it's still a cut below Blu-ray.

yeah, i gots nothing to say. other than maybe come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! haha. i know they warned me twice, but no one on the floor was sitting. they could have found a much better solution, move me onto the floor is one. i paid the same amount for a ticket as the people on the floor, why should i have to sit and they get the full concert experience just for luck of the draw? i would've been pissed off the entire show, i think, so it was worth it.
You do realize that you sound like an unsocialized four-year-old?
I feel sorry for anyone who was sitting near you, who had to endure a long distraction while you argued with security while they were trying to listen to the music.

Wow, no Shot in the Arm or You Never Know. Some nice surprises there.

[updated to include Toronto night 1]
I do spreadsheets in my day job, so I thought it might be fun to pop recent setlists into the grid and see what comes out. I used setlists from the 10 11 most recent shows, starting with London Troxy and running through Columbus Toronto night 1. The songs that appear on the setlist break into four groups:
CORE
These 10 songs have been played, without exception, at every show.
The first six usually kick off the show with minor shuffling of the order.
Wilco (the song)
A Shot in the Arm
One Wing
IATTBYH
Bull Black Nova
You Are My Face
Impossible Germany
I'm The Man Who Loves You
Jesus, etc.
You Never Know (sometimes with supporting act)
MORE
These six songs have been sprinkled throughout most recent sets. The exception is Dallas [and Toronto night 1], where they skipped At Least That's What You Said and Calif Stars, and the two-night stand in Dublin, where they played four songs on night 1 and the other two on night 2 (gives hope for setlists in Toronto and Chicago).
At Least That's What You Said
Handshake Drugs
Can't Stand It
Hate It Here
Walken
California Stars (with supporting act)
MIXERS
At any given show, you will probably hear seven or eight songs from the 12 on this list.
Deeper Down
Heavy Metal Drummer
Hoodoo Voodoo
I'll Fight
Kingpin
Misunderstood
Monday
Outtasite (Outta Mind)
Sonny Feeling
Spiders (Kidsmoke)
The Late Greats
Theologians
RARITIES
This is the list of extra songs that have been sprinkled into recent lists for seasoning. Typically there have been 3-5 off this list at any show. (Note that Far Far Away was on the setlist at Iowa but wasn't played. I expect it will reappear soon.)
A Magazine Called Sunset
Ashes of American Flags
Box Full of Letters
Cars Can't Escape
Company In My Back
Country Disappeared
Either Way
How to Fight Loneliness
Hummingbird
I'm A Wheel
I'm Always In Love
In The Street [big Star]
It's Just That Simple
Kamera
Nothing'severgonnastandinmyway(again)
One By One
Passenger Side
Poor Places
Pot Kettle Black
Radio Cure
Reservations
Via Chicago

Have either of you ever seen Springsteen setlists from 1978?
Ha! Funny you should mention that. I saw Springsteen on back-to-back nights at Winterland in December 1978. He played 25 songs each night, of which 20 were identical, and even in the identical order.
I do not recall being disappointed in either night's performance.
-
I thought this bit from the Dallas show (thanks for posting this recording so fast!) was interesting. Someone called out a request for Pot Kettle Black. Tweedy says they're not gonna play that. Crowd goes awwwwww. Cue this short rant from a clearly exasperated Tweedy:
You know what, YOU write a setlist. It's hard!OK, let me get this on the record for all you tapers, all you people that sit at home and complain about the setlists being the same every fuckin' night.
You're not at the shows! All right? Here's the deal. When Wilco comes to town, we look at what we played last time, and we try and play at least half different stuff.
[CROWD CHEERS]
OK? That should be good enough, right?
Mind you, this was right after playing Company in My Back, followed immediately by Kamera, and shortly thereafter by Cars Can't Escape.
Point taken.

I think my favorite track from this band is "Bible and a Gun," especially the version Jason Ringenberg recorded solo with Steve Earle. Guaranteed goosebumps! Will be interesting to see if age has mellowed their sometimes frantic approach.
-
i disagree. some of my favorite bands are older bands that have maintained that edge. Radiohead, Widespread Panic, Black Crowes, hell the Stones. i am not smart enough to tell you what it is they have done that wilco hasn't.
The Stones? Seriously? We live on different planets. They've been a prancing parody of a rock band since about 1985.
wilco is worthy of otherworldy expectations. you disagree?
No, of course not. My experience is different from yours. They've lived up to my lofty expectations. Wish I could have had your Dallas ticket. Sounds like I would have enjoyed the show more.
-
Yet all but one time, I have walked away from a wilco show with a slight disconnect.
That's where you lost me. It sounds like you have a picture in your mind of what you want this band to be, and they just don't live up to it.
They are what they are. This year I've seen Wilco at Red Rocks, Dublin Vicar Street (twice), and Iowa City. Two of those nights were transcendent, and the other two were just a whole lot of fun. No disconnects. I also don't recall looking at the crowd and passing judgment on their coolness at any point. We did meet really interesting fun people at every show we attended.
I guess I just don't understand what the problem is, except maybe you need to find a younger, hungrier, cooler band who can live up to your very demanding standards. Or relax your standards just a bit for this band.

so how does the presale business work?
There's a pinned thread at the top of this board that explains how FrontGate Ticketing works.

My Recording of the show last night

Wilco
10-06-2009
Crossroads KC
Kansas City, MO
Thank you thank you thank you thank you.
Oh, and thank you.
This show reminds me very much of when they played Popejoy Hall in Albuquerque in 2009. Tweedy characterized that one as "lavender-scented" after the first half. Sadly, have never seen (or, obviously, heard) a recording of it.

EDMONTON!!!!!!!!! YESSSSS!!!!!!!! I am so happy! Now the question is whether to take our 5 year old or not...
In Iowa City, some folks near us had their youngster with them, probably about the same age. The poor kid was miserable. The music was too loud, and the show is way too long to hold the interest of a child that young. I would recommend against it.
Now, the 12-year-old right in front of us directly in front of John in the first row was having a great time. But there's a big diff btwn ages 5 and 12.

Hey, who's up for a road trip to Duluth in February?
(Not me.)
Lucky folks in Portland and Seattle. The Paramount is a fabulous location, acoustically near perfect (although even at my advanced age I prefer GA). Anyway, it's all theoretical to me as I'll be on a tropical beach that week so will have to miss both shows.

Good point. But anyone who doesn't see a lack of talent on the cast lately is dilusional.
The cast has some talent. The current crop of writers are doing extra sucky work. SNL has gone through ups and downs before, and good writing is always what brings it back.
-
Finally stopped recording it. Yes, there were great moments last year, but we couldn't make it even partway through either of the first two eps this season. I mean, they have the whole freakin' summer to write the first episode, so it should at least have something memorable. But it started out shitty and went downhill.
Buh bye, SNL.
I won a trip to Hawaii from Wheel of Fortune...

They probably count on the fact that the vast majority never get claimed because people don't watch the episode where they're picked. So they can "give away" far more than they actually have to pay for.
