  1. Various websites, although nothing official I can find on Gibson's, are claiming that Gibson is going to be issuing a Jeff Tweedy Signature SG for this year's 50th anniversary of the 1961 SG, in blue with a maestro vibrola, for under $2000.

Does anyone have any idea whether this might possibly be true, and, if so, how one might go about attempting to buy one of these? I certainly realize the utter folly of believing that celebrity-endorsed instruments have special powers, but a blue 1961-specs SG with a maestro tailpiece for non-custom-shop prices sounds like a deal too good to be true, no matter the name is on it.

I guess I have to start saving now, that bad boy can join my Tweedy Breedlove, sweet!

  2. I think you'll be better off on Friday anyway, Bosco. A friend and I both went in a 10:00 on the dot. His CAPTCHA was ridiculous and he had to reload it once. Mine was not too bad for once. I got tickets, he didn't. He tried again, but by 10:03 they were gone! Let me know if you wind up coming to NY for either/both shows so we can meet up. I was so focused on prepping for and shooting Solid Sound that I didn't get to see a lot of people I wanted to meet up with. At least for now, I don't plan to shoot in NY so that I can relax and enjoy it more.

I already have the first day, and if I don't score on Friday I'm still going down, if I don't get in it doesn't really matter, it sounds fine on the lawn outside I seem to recall.

  3. With the dead we used to get tour blocks through gd ticketing... They'd award the best seats by which envelope art they liked the best...still I could have sold them to scalpers.... As noted above it is a supply demand thing...

Art was one criteria, they actually played favorites and seniority too, I had a friend there and he'd pull my envelope and put it on the top of the stack, being a taper it actually didn't change my seat location, but I was never shut out ;^) In Fall of '91 I was actually called by the ticket office wondering why I hadn't ordered for the tour, I thought I had ordered, my roommate offered to do me a favor and bring my mail order to the post office for me, turned out my roommate had just lost a lot of money in a gambling habit and pocketed my money.

  4. In NYC they are...last Manhattan show was June 06 to boot*!

*Not counting opening for Neil Young at MSG

So how about a second show, Central Park is open on Friday (Grace Potter on Saturday), and really, are Wilco gonna take a Friday and Saturday off in the middle of a tour?

  5. Awesome that Bren got Liam's set and Pajama Club.

With regards to Pajama Club, I had no idea he was recording and sorta had a long conversation with him during their set, his mics were kinda low, I'm gonna guess you won't be seeing this one, sorry :no. Now if Bern wasn't so nice and polite he might have pointed out (to a fellow taper even) that he was taping and I wouldn't have talked over their set :o.

  6. The sense of entitlement expressed by some in this thread is really entertaining.

Entitlement? I don't know about that, I see a lot of people venting their frustration about not getting tickets. Maybe I need to go back and read some of these posts but I don't recall anyone saying "I can't believe I didn't get tickets, don't they know who I am". I'm fairly certain everyone here is completely grateful that Wilco does this for their fans.

  7. 1. When was the first time that you heard Wilco's music?

    2. When was the first time you saw Wilco in concert?

    1) Having been a fan of Uncle Tupelo and actually got to see them once I too bought the first Wilco and Son Volt cd's when they came out, and I too thought Son Volt was the better band at first (until Being There).

    2) I actully saw Son Volt a few times before Wilco, my first Wilco show was on the Being There tour when they opened for Sheryl Crow, 7/31/1997, which was the first time they came to Connecticut. The show was awesome, and there was maybe 30 people in the room, most of the people were drinking in the lobby.

  8. Lol..yeah I don't really need another Tote Bag...Wilco just loves to make these things.

I think. Pre order bundle should come with bonus tracks or a DVD. Dont really need another Wilco Tshirt or Eco bag.

The funny thing is this was my son's first Solid Sound and Wilco show, he wanted to buy his mother and his (she's not my)girlfriend gifts, he came back with two tote bags, I didn't have the heart to tell him they give those away.

  9. So sorry to hear about all you are going through. It sounds rough in your world right now.

A weekend with Wilco might be a good thing - a sonic shoulder, you know? It can be hard to camp with kids alone, but I wonder if bringing the kids might be a good thing, particularly if they have been looking forward to it. I am bringing three (ages 12, 12, and 8) solo.

    Just a wonder.

My heart goes out to you and your children.

It's a thought, I just remember some of the crowds and the way we were cattle herded through the museum, not to mention those stairs down to the dungeon for the indoor bathrooms. I think my wife might take them camping at a local beach/campsite weekend.
